Watch out for Troy softball in 2019...

Only two seniors graduating, both of which weren't "major" contributors. We return all three of the All-SBC players, both starting pitchers, all relief pitchers, and the entire batting lineup. Could finally be our breakout year that we've been waiting for...

We lose our biggest bat and our best pitcher. Let's see what Cat Osterman can do with the youngins in the off season.

RE: SBC Softball All Conference Team
Cajuns only have one full time starter they are losing. We have a couple of transfers sitting out along with our starting second baseman who was injured in the first game who was expected to be our power this year. I think we signed three high school seniors in the early signing period and rumor says a couple of transfers who should be eligible immediately.

Yeah, lets be real here. Just as it is every year, the Cajuns will be the team to beat in 2019. Troy doesn't scare me.

Besides, Georgia Southern is about to perform and early elimination of the Jags.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but....how is it your transfers have to sit out and our pitcher from last year who transferred to South Carolina is able to play right away?

I think it has to do with the release from the former school. If they don't grant the release; then the player has to sit a year. I believe that is NOT the case for most transfers.

As Shof has stated, your coach can refuse to release a player to play at a new school the next year, although most schools have a method where the transferring player has a method to challenge this with a review body within the school.

The three all-American and all-conference players the Cajuns had transfer at mid-term were all released to play right away at their new teams. The Cajuns had four who transferred in at the same time, with two being released and two not.

Thanks. Even better that Troy has eliminated USA from the tournament. 04-cheers

I know Troy doesn't have an extensive postseason history in softball, but we certainly don't have a bad softball program. Only 4 losing seasons in 25 years, and the program is only 25 years old... plus 896-616 all-time record, which is top 3 in the conference in win percentage and Top 60 in the NCAA along with Louisiana and USA. It's actually been a shame that some our previous teams didn't get bids to the NCAA tourney, either because the conference we were in sucked or we got jipped... in 1995, we went 52-18 (which I believe was the most wins in the nation that season) with wins over #23 Georgia Tech, ACC champ Florida State and #17 Maryland... and got left out.

USA must have been looking last Troy since they won the three regular season games by a combined score of 19-1. 03-drunk
