Bob, you are now using Roback as your 'foil' so you can argue with posters on this forum.
That kind of stuff ruins these forums which depend on posters being civil. These forums aren't like a carpool where someone can be voted off.
Bob and ljm just sad individuals, who actually enjoy trying to ruin the board. Never a positive thing to say.......really incredible.

You're obsessed with us.
Feel sorry for you actually. Need to take a serious look in the mirror and ask yourself why you apparently enjoy being despised on the sports forum of your alma mater.
At this point, I'll just let karma have it's way with you.
No, you clearly are obsessed.

Interesting film. Interested in E'Tough's comments.
My take:
1). Strong arm. Not sure the throwing mechanics and foot work are there yet. Needs to be coached to become a good FBS QB. Has the arm so the rest will come.
2). Very good runner. Big, quick, powerful runner. Looks really good on the QB draw and keeper. Not suggesting it, but he probably could be a good MAC RB. He has size, power, quicks, etc. of a good RB. Shouldn't be fragile like Reggie Bell was. I'd guess he'll play at around 215 which means some DBs aren't going to be happy to tackle him.
Only QB on the roster that has the potential to be a program changer. Athleticism and running ability not often seen in a MAC QB. With the right OC, he could be a nightmare for opposing DC's. Just his scrambling ability and the threat of the run automatically makes him a better passer. The zone read slows down the DE's. The threat of the run gets the safeties creeping up, with more single coverage outside. On scrambles guys automatically come wide open at some point. All that being said, he shows a pretty good arm on film as well. Keeps his eyes downfield on scrambles and rollouts and throws with accuracy on the run. Pretty good straight line zip on the slants. Nice touch on deep balls, although usually to guys running wide open (again, many times because he's scrambled and DB's can only cover so long.)
When this kid shows up they've got to get him reps and figure out what they've got. Coaches pretty much know what they've got with all the QB's on the roster, except Grissom and Glass. Probably the 2 most talented we have.
The MAC is a QB league. We're not contending for MAC titles with middle of the road QB's. Give at least 2 or 3 of them meaningful reps in that first game. Call plays to each of their strengths, and see what happens.
I'm going to add a comment and make an analogy with it.
I can see him being used early like Stiebeling was used in the BG game.
Don't expect to see him playing as a green frosh doing the full package (e.g. end zone fades), etc. but he can certainly do the runs and set up the short passes as Stiebeling did vs. BG. With his running ability if he initially is only fairly accurate in the passing game, he will still be tough.
The big difference is speed, quicks, power that Grissom has.

RE: Who Wins the 2018 QB Job?
Hmmmmm, let's look at the past two MAC Champion QBs:
2017 Loganwoodside - drop back QB
2016 Zack Terrell - drop back QB
2015 BGSU QB Matt ? - drop back QB
All three QBs had pocket prescence and mobility but NOT dual threat. Can we play a dual threat QB and have him stay healthy? OSU had to use several dual threat QBs to get thru a season a few years back. Dual threat QB offensive strategy is risky due to the potential of the QB getting knocked out of the game.
Just food for thought......

It is possible that fans like dual threat QBs, but pro style QBs win the championships?

Nope, this stuff goes in cycles.
Ohio now has the best QB in the league. Dual threat.
NIU dominated for years with dual threat QB's.
If you've got a tough, solid 215+ dual threat, no problem...........
.......Reggie Bell body.........problem.

RE: Who Wins the 2018 QB Job?
I guess the big question (not the weight of the dual threat QB) is whether or not the (dual threat) QB is a good thrower or really a glorified RB.

By definition a dual threat is both.
Poor thrower is your glorified RB. Poor runner not really a dual threat.
Look at the Ohio kids stats from last year. That's exactly what we need.

Not to mention the Buffalo QB. He's a threat to run as well.
Regardless, we gotta do whatever we define as our identity/gameplane well enough every game. Hopefully, if we do that, we win.

Wait a second...so neither Tom Brady nor Tim Tebow are considered dual threat QB's? Mind blown.

Even if he did find me and could actually fight (his season ending broken face suggests that he can't) he runs a 5.2 40, pretty sure I could "crawl away" faster than he runs, he'd never catch me.

There are better sources than me or the Internet (like someone involved in CFB) but here is an article which seems to indicate that rules changes has lengthened the time between first practice and first game (by doing away with 2 a day practices).
