Who's watching the Sixers?

I'll be the first to admit I hated NBA basketball since Jordan retired. I was out of the country while the Sixers were tanking so it's like it never happened. All I know is I came back to a fun team to watch.

They are in trouble against Boston. Brett Brown has done a terrific job but I feel like he has met his match in Brad Stevens. There's no shame in that except Boston is going to be a primary obstacle for Philly especially if Lebron leaves Cleveland. Celtics look like the much more prepared and sharper team. They know where they want to go for shots, execute their offense to get good shots, and seem content to let the shot clock run out rather than forcing up a bad shot. They've been able to get out in transition when the opportunity is there.

Sixers looked much better prepared especially defensively in the 1st quarter and a half of Game 2. Then the wheels fell off. I thought Brown should've used a time out during that run. They never really recovered. Celtics are exposing a lot of the Sixers' weaknesses especially their dependency on three point shots and Simmons' complete inability or at least unwillingness to shoot. It's an indictment of the lack of defense in the NBA that teams allowed a guy with no jump shot to drive in and dunk on them. I'd sag back to the foul line at least if I was guarding Simmons. I also hate how many awful transition jump shots the Sixers take.

Even if they don't come back...which they could because who knows how home court will change things...it's fun to be talking about meaningful basketball in May.

I'm a Knicks fan, and Jordan was an obstacle to them. The Knicks went to two NBA Finals, a 4-3 loss to Houston and a 4-1 loss to San Antonio when the Knicks were the 8 seed. I don't watch the NBA. Basketball is the only sport where I'm a bigger fan of the NCAA.

The NBA is higher scoring than it used to be. I read that when it was lower scoring, it was because players wanted to make shots to get on SportsCenter rather than taking the smartest shots.

Also not an NBA fan though some of the offense run nowadays is finally resembling actual basketball and away from ISO/street ball. I still only tune in for a short bits during the playoffs. Not enough interest yet for anything during the regular season. It is also the one sport I prefer NCAA over professional. We all know Stevens is one of the best coaches around. It amazes me he keeps a competitive team at the NBA level with his 2 top guys out for the year (Hayward/Kyrie)
