Y’all ready for another poll question? Remember Louisiana Ragin Cajuns are hosting this years regional, and the regional starts on May 23rd.

LOL. I voted for stAte just to screw it up. I wish I'd have considered App.

It was way too tempting not too.

Side note, I made the duplicate thread vanish into thin air

Well I did do a Sun Belt Conference Softball poll. I don’t see it anymore. Someone should do one since it starts this weekend.

Oh

So that what's that was. The way you had them titled I assumed you had accidentally made a duplicate thread. I simply read softball as baseball. Make a new one and I'll leave it alone.

If anyone asks, Catmom made me do it.

I picked Troy. Not from a bias standpoint, but because I think Troy has finally found their complete weekend pitching rotation. Our Sunday starter typically was never the same guy, but last weekend we took one of the best relief pitchers on staff and put him as the Sunday starter. He pitched great last weekend against UTA, striking out 4 and not giving up a walk. I also think we have one of the deeper pitching staffs in the conference.

Combine that with Troy being #2 in the SBC in runs per game (only behind Coastal), and I feel good about our chances.

Now as I say this, watch Troy lose in the first round by a score of 0-9... that's how these things usually go.

Troy is not a bad pick, whether you're from Troy or not.

I don't care who you are, you better have a third starter if you're going to win this thing.

When the Cajuns won it three years straight, they actually had four. Bringing #1 back on three days rest sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

If you don't have a third guy, you run a chance on falling on Saturday and getting into the if necessary game.

In my opinion, you have to have eight reliable pitchers total.

You also badly need to stay in the winners bracket as long as possible. Outside of you guys a few years back in Troy, there are not many recent examples of a team winning the tournament after losing its first game.

Even with tons of competent arms, it's really hard to win 5 straight games in 4 days to win the tournament.

If the season ended today:

1. CCU
2. LR
3. USA
4. GS
5. Troy
6. LA
7. TxSt/UTA
8. UTA/TxST
9. ULM
10. ASU

Impossible to say who the top two seeds would face...but LA/USA and GS/Troy would be really good first round matchups.

And, let's remember what happened to the top two seeds in their first games last year.

If AState was to make the tournament and get through the 1st round, it'd be fun to play Little Rock in the Quarterfinals. We've not played them in the tournament in a long time. Problem is, I'm not sure the odds of both us getting into the tournament and LR winning the West are very good since we play each other last week.

I don't want to. I also don't want to remember this season either.
