Entirely possible we could get 4 if Troy finishes strong and someone outside of the Top 3 wins the tournament.
Hell, Little Rock could play themselves into an at large spot with series @ Coastal and vs South remaining. Not likely, but not impossible either.

I actually think ULL could be the one to play themselves into a possible 4th spot. They have a higher RPI than Little Rock, as well as more Top 50 wins and a tougher schedule. Plus the Cajuns get Coastal at the Tigue...

D1 baseball has us as next five in. So as long as we keep up what we are doing and have a good run in the tournament we are in. That Miss state game at The Hoover Met will be a big game. Because we are both about the spot.

I'd say the game against Auburn at home is the big fish. They are currently #9 in RPI, will be a sellout crowd, and Troy plays well against Auburn at home usually. That game could be a big RPI booster and look good to the selection committee.

We need to get back to our league getting 3 in every year and more than 3 in other years. It shouldn’t be a question by the committee, but an expectation we typically will have that many each year. We have the teams and talent to not be a one bid league like we have been.

I think that is still the expectation. It looks like the issue this year seems to be we have about 3 teams in the Top 50 RPI, and bunch of teams in the 50 to 99 range in RPI. Everyone is sort of beating each other in conference and those 50-99 teams aren't playing consistently enough to solidify a third or fourth team in the NCAA's.

League needs to do a couple of things:
In the pre conference, some schools need to schedule better. But the biggest thing is to win mid week games. The biggest thing I see is a lack of pitching depth in a lot of schools. They are good on the weekend but not on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the past, that has helped our teams. Now, it hurts.

Oddly enough, that's been Troy's strength this year. We've mostly gotten some quality outings from weekday pitchers. We're 9-2 in midweek games, with the only losses to Auburn and Alabama (both away games).

For the first half of the season, mid-week wins where what kept the Cajuns record competitive.

And the thing is, the Tuesday situations get worse at the end of the year. Early in the year it feels like we do far better as a league in midweek. Once late season comes around and we've had injuries and the conference situation becomes so important, we end up with some ugly midweek losses.
To be honest, I wish the league would come together and just agree to not schedule a midweek game before the last conference series. But that's far from likely to happen.
I mean, AState has 10 available pitchers on its entire staff right now. I don't know how we even can remotely plan to even challenge UCA This week. You'd almost rather it get rained out.
