I think they already did this quite a few years ago and it was called Initial D. Maybe it will be good....but... I think they have jumped the shark now...

I agree, F&F going anime is a bit too much.

Its one thing for a anime series to move to a TV/Movie reality, but not so much with a successful series/movie going to anime. (Maybe it's just me.)
The only "successful" cartoon series from a TV series to me was Star Trek. But, I think that was because the demand for continuing the Star Trek series. I've enjoyed seeing some of the episodes on Netflix...sure it's a bit corny on the cartoon side of things but I like to see the new adventures. (it also helped having original voices also).
