Almost wonder whether they will try to take down the statues of her.

Hannah Duston was captured in an Indian raid in 1697 at the age of 40. Her one week old baby was, according to the stories, killed in route. She was left with a 14 year old boy and another woman with an Indian family consisting of 2 men, 3 women and 7 children. She got the boy to learn how to kill with a tomahawk and then they killed all but an old woman and young boy, scalped them and returned home with the scalps.

We basically have a woman who killed murdering slavers, but apparently she's still bad because she was white. Looking back at history through this lens is a huge problem.

If we use the today lens.

The Founding Fathers of the US were an incredibly homogenous population.

If we use the lens of the late 18th century the diversity was amazing. You had Anglicans, Catholics, Presbyterians, Quakers, Lutherans, and Deists.

You had farmers, lawyers, importers, shop owners, slave holders, abolitionists, etc.

The diversity in religion carried with it suspicion the "others" would try to gain power and oppress them, the differences in beliefs about slavery created the same issue as did the diversity in their economic backgrounds.
