Hell, that was probably the first time that a girlfriend/friend did a student athlete's homework and it probably doesn't happen at a lot of schools with a lot of players. *sarcasm

Can’t dismiss KU.
SMU is a weird situation.

Whether we like it or not, it should be concerning that Brown apparently didn’t have control of what happened under him at 3 different programs. I don’t believe that’s the case. Brown is culpable and we can not dismiss him as being completely unaware of what was going on.

The only thing they can really pin on him is the Askew deal. And tha wasn’t that bad. Give the man a chance.

You mean he should be given a chance like Houston gave Kelvin Sampson? Kelvin Sampson who had a 5 YEAR show cause order imposed against him? Kelvin Sampson who took a sub .500 Houston team and has averaged 20 wins a season?

Kelvin Sampson who makes Larry Brown look like a choir boy but holds a head coaching position in the same conference as the Tigers?

How dare you even suggest that Larry Brown be treated as such?

Oh my
So Larry had no idea about the other infractions?

If the admins want to give him a chance, then sure. But to dismiss their concerns as foolish is short sighted IMO

Well yeah that was 30 years ago cuz that’s the last time he coached college before SMU. That’s a huge assumption on your part that KU wouldnt get nailed now if such infractions were found. USC got nailed in football recently. UNC maybe God’s gift to basketball since they somehow did skate free but KU isn’t seen that way. Anyways, Brown can’t keep himself clean for whatever reason. Bad luck, lack of diligence perhaps, etc - either way it’s foolish to dismiss what has happened as meh.

THE REASON WE NEED LB
Has there ever been a HC that took another HC or AC spot in the same conference while the school he came from was still on probation?

Let's make history!

Keep in mind, SMU wanted to keep Brown. He left SMU on his own.

I’m not saying dismiss anything. Sure he got caught up in some scandalous activities. But he will not be head coach and won’t have the final say on things. All I’m saying is give him a chance.

And that’s fair and reasonable. Unlike you, there are folks who claim that the admins and fans who are weary of Brown are foolish and don’t have any valid reasons.

That’s a national article from 1988.

The KU infractions are not all listed in that article. For instance, Askew received $1200+ from Brown and 3 boosters. And there were other smaller infractions as well at KU. Its surprising folks dismiss that he was able to get 2 prestigious programs into probation when the NCAA usually doesn’t come down as hard on such programs. KU almost got the death penalty in this case and are the only program that had to suffer the humiliation of being unable to defend its own championship cuz of a ban.
