Have it be 8 or 16 teams and each round would be a best 2 out of 3 weekend series. Maybe have the championship series be best 3 out of 5 and begin on Thursday.

I don't know if it would really be profitable, especially as a national tournament. I think it would work as separate regional tournaments in the Carolinas, Florida, California, & Texas, areas known for their interest in college baseball. I just don't think you'll be able to bring in 16 teams from across the nation with mediocre and good-but-not-great records and get the type of crowds you're looking for.

Maybe they could start out as separate regional tournaments, then merge after a few years into a single national tournament.

But I could see a rotating 8 or 16 team tournament in Wilmington, Savannah, Jacksonville or Myrtle Beach in late May grabbing teams from NC, SC, VA, GA, FL, etc. to fill it out.

Baseball would have plenty of money and interest if it started later, went all summer (when sports are slow, think MLB all-star week) and ended in a College World Series right before football season.

NIT baseball NO...

Coming from a baseball fan too. Already 64 teams get in the tournament and less baseball teams than basketball in d-1.

Can we just take the autobids from the non power baseball leagues? 07-coffee3

They could do a CIT/CBI pay for play tournament.

What is the benefit for the teams to play in the tournament? Additional exposure? Not hardly.

I love college baseball, but I'm a business guy and this is a non starter.

It's not like teams in the sub-NIT tournaments get much exposure in basketball. You do it for extra practice time and as a reward/consolation.

Not that I care. I don't watch college baseball's main tournament as things stand currently.

Baseball don't play participation trophies. We have one champ, one champ only.

Basketball has one champ but then you also have NIT, CBI, and CIT tournament winners. Also it would give a team like UConn last year or likely Houston this year a chance to be rewarded for a good season if they get snubbed by the committee.

Extra practice time, some recruiting boost if they win it, momentum heading into the next season, etc.

They already play in summer leagues and there would be no recruiting benefit. It wouldn't be on TV.

I love college baseball I mean as a ECU fan really not much other choice here lately. But a NIT baseball tournament would be tough to pull off money wise. Who would want to carry it? Also I just don't think fans will come to a NIT baseball game, I mean I have seen some teams in the NCAA regional not fill up there stadium and that is for a shot at the title.

Again, pay-for-play. It'd be no different than any of college basketball's lower tournament's in that regard.

Actually I can guarantee it would be. Nothing else is on really during that time so Fox, CBS, Turner, and NBC would all bid for it.

$$$$ and disrupting the summer league process. Summer leagues are as (if not more) important to the MLB draft process.
