The video seems to relay the fact that this will be a game in the true sense. Last year's "game" was offense versus defense. This should be good.
Yeah, the players are actually excited for the new format. Basically a draft that created 2 teams. Should be interesting. Keeping these kids healthy still the main concern of the staff, so the overall amount of live reps will be limited I'd think.
Excellent:
Players I would watch:
QBs Wiegers and Hutchinson. (easy to follow the QBs and these are the two best, I think, of those doing spring ball).
WR / TE: Latu and Odukoya. We need (and needed last year) a TE and a now a replacement for graduated Bailey. CC has spoken highly of Latu.
RB: Maybe newcomers Holloway and Mackey (if he plays).
and maybe some JUCO defenders like Ty Neal, Turan Rush, etc.
If we see and can evaluate some redshirts that would be a bonus.
Should be a fun day, if ONLY the weather had been kinder (ask the White Sox fans what it is like to watch base-a-ball with snow coming down). Good opportunity to get the local 2018 local signees and 2019 recruiting targets out for the show. I assume schools try to use spring games to get new signees and recruiting targets together for the day.
Spring games are fun events for all, coaches, players, family, friends, recruits, fans, etc.
