Miami of Ohio is a must-have LOL. They may be crappy now but they are historically one of the MAC's better programs. Keep Ball St because they give the MAC a presence in a neighboring state in Indiana.

I do feel like each MAC team contributes something so it's difficult for me to kick one out. If I had to, Kent St or Eastern Michigan. (But again, EMU is great at the Olympic sports and Kent St consistently wins the MAC in baseball) JMU and MTSU would be great adds. Marshall doesn't really add anything and they would never come back.

Absolutely, it is a completely saturated market, in a fantasy world I’d like to see the MAC kick out EMU, Kent St, Ball St, and possibly even Miami. And then try to bring in schools like Marshal, James Madison, Middle Tennessee. Way too many mediocre Ohio schools that backlog this conference.
Another WMU fan thinking they are somehow bigger than what they are. Is there anything funnier than WMU arrogance?

He doesn't speak for us. He's just a troll. There are literally no other WMU fans that I know of that believe this drivel.

I don’t think we’re that big, but I do think the MAC loves being average and has no aspirations of improving, and there seem to be a number of programs driving it down. Hate me for wanting improvement ... sorry

Don't you think improvement would be.....

-A better bowl game for the MAC Champion.
-Moving the Black Friday week down to Orlando to mitigate lack of Florida presence.
-Scheduling better non-conference games at home with the TV deal.
-Playing competitive balanced FB divisions instead of East/West.

These are things that can help the MAC catch up to the AAC.

As to some of the weaker FB brands, they help make for a top heavy conference for the Toledo and NIU's. The MAC is a small sandbox with a few bigger kids.

I’m talking mainly football here. And just because a school is good at women’s field hockey does not mean they should be excused for having a crappy football program and giving the conference a bad look. And yes I expect EMU and Kent fans to get a little salty.

Could you explain your proposals a little more? I do agree the MAC champion should get a better bowl game, not really sure how you schedule better non conf games tho, I think they’re pretty good already.

Football isn't everything. The MAC has some very strong programs in the non-revenue sports.

And what about academics? You want to kick out Miami, one of the most (if not the most) academically prestigious schools in our conference?

You want to talk football though?
Miami were MAC champs in 2010.
Ball State went to the MACC in 2008.
Kent State went in 2012.
In 2013, WMU went 1-11.

Should WMU have been kicked out after that abysmal season?

Sure football isn’t everything but let’s be honest it’s the most important sport and brings schools the most publicity, plus it’s part of the whole college experience. Every program has its ups and downs as you saw with WMU’s 1-11 season, but that was a rebuilding year, and in the next couple years we won the Bahamas bowl and then went undefeated and went to a NY6 bowl, Kent st, EMU, and ball st are some of the worst programs historically as far as football goes and they consistently drag the MAC attendance numbers wayyyyy down, some years they struggle to break 10k fans on average, certainly that’s reason enough!!?

Miami of Ohio is a must-have LOL. They may be crappy now but they are historically one of the MAC's better programs.

And Miami has, arguably, the strongest academics in the conference. Absolutely ridiculous to talk of pushing them out.

Maybe you should try facts: (and these have been pointed out to you before, but they don’t seem to sink in). Kent averages just a hair under 14k over the last decade and has NO seasons below 10K.

And other than WMU’s miracle season, they’re basically a sub-500 program over the same period. And you’re complaining about mediocrity?

RE: Why is the MAC's Stability Considered a Good Thing?
Mac has lower travel cost especially for non-revenue sports. The power conferences have big budgets and can spread out for TV, but the MAC is wise to keep a regional footprint. MAC survives as an FBS conference. They got a conference title game in an NFL stadium and a conference basketball tournament in an NBA arena. The MWC, Sun belt, CUSA and American don't have that. MAC has survived since 1946. Even with the realignment they lost only one full member in Marshall. If they MAC were to make a change would be with football adding two extra conference games for a ten game conference slate and eliminate the FCS games each school plays. Guarantees five homes for everyone and puts more weight on conference performance for bowl eligibility. Play two power conference teams away non-conference and pocket the cash and get on TV for those two games first two weeks of the season. Perhaps an exception for rivalry games with Miami/Cincinnati or Ohio/Marshall if they get national TV for those games, if not schedule a power conference team an pocket the money like the rest of the conference.

I think the MAC should enforce the FBS rule where you need to average 15000 butts in seats at football games. If you don't hit that, your booted from conference. Then we could invite other teams to fill voids. Yes i know there is more to football, but football is king.

So you would have booted WMU after the 2012 season. Basically, the conference would be Toledo and Ohio, and maybe CMU. All 9 other teams have seasons under 15k in the last 7-8 yrs. So all those other nine teams going to FCS?

The MAC average is right around 15k most seasons.

I mis-spoke, I think the rule is they have to hit it once every 2 years. But i would enforce it by butts in seats, not tickets sold. Also, if the fan base knows about rule that should give them more incentive to get to games. Either start attending or you'll no longer have a D1 school to root for.
