This. I’m not arguing that Charlotte is a better program. My point is that it shouldn’t be and is only a lot better (right now — I could care less what they did in the old CUSA that was essentially a high major and is never coming back) because we continue to let our program languish. It should piss people off on here that we’re so far behind a program that should be a peer. Instead it’s just more rationalizing and excuses from most.

Ron Sanchez.
Perhaps this is all about hitching a ride with Ron Sanchez, and rolling the dice on a career move.
Sanchez comes from a program that emphasized defense. Kotie comes from a program that emphasized offense.
Sanchez was an assistant at UVa. Kotie was an assistant at W&M. UVa and W&M are going to take the Charlotte program forward.
Perhaps this has nothing at all to do with the respective positions of the programs at Charlotte and W&M.

RE: Kotie Kimble to Charlotte
One would have to think that Coach Kimble made a move for career advancement and pay reasons. We should wish him well and thank him for his contribution to W&M basketball.
Many are frustrated by the level of support that the College has historically offered to basketball. MBB has the greatest potential for raising the profile of the College athletically and WBB maybe second as long as we are a FCS program. Success in basketball would also pay dividends to other areas of the College as it spurs recognition and donations of all sorts.
Coach Kimble was underpaid at W&M due to the shoestring (193rd) spending on the sport, but after 7 years as an assistant, it was probably time for him to move on for his career. I'm not sure whether a higher paycheck would have changed that or not.
We thank Coach Kimble for his service and positive contributions. We would like to recognize all of our coaches' contributions with higher monetary rewards, increase recruiting budgets, be able to schedule higher level outside conference opponents, have a dedicated practice facility, upgrade our arena, offer better strength and conditioning programs, better academic support, improved sports medicine and psychological support for our athletes, have better concessions and amenities, better marketing efforts, etc., etc.
With Ms. Huge in place, we have the leadership to accomplish these things, but it takes increased commitment from everyone here and beyond to get there. Rome wasn't built in a day, but I'm encouraged by this season, which was magical, the upturn that has started in scheduling and the improvement in atmosphere and promotions that have begun. Let's all continue to increase our support for bb and move ahead together.
