Game is getting better .... Cooper looks pretty good, but very little discipline in these plays /players....Dukes would stomp either for sure

D1AA Prairie View out of the SWAC was leading Rice at Rice 28-19 heading into the 4Q. Rice has scored 9 pts to tie it 28-28 with just over 3 minutes left.
Nice.
edit note: Rice lining up for game-winning chip shot FG with 1 second left. And Rice wins 31-28.

I believe I read where NC A&T has the longest current winning streak going in 1AA right now. Hope they pull this off.

Announcers are talking up the lameass Celebration Bowl as being better / more prestigious than FCS playoffs...
Eff that, I officially hate this lame FCS bowl for teams that are rarely in the playoffs, and never competitive in them

I wouldn’t put too much weight on anything espn says during this game. These guys haven’t exactly been the A crew.

Thoroughly unimpressed. Bet the house on ECU vs A&T. If ECU has any kind of D-line, they will blow up every play the Aggies run.

Good job, A&T!! Jax State reminds me a lot of Soft Doucheston. Feasting every year on very weak conference vittles. Getting too highly seeded. Glad to see them go down.

JSU is a fringe top 25 team. Living on name and weak SoS at this point.

Yeah that comment was asinine when he made it. He also just flat out lied that A&T chose to turn down a playoff invite to go to the bowl instead.
The MEAC champion is contractually obligated to participate in the Celebration bowl. They don’t have a choice.

I agree. They’ll stay ranked due to slot voting and starting the season too high but it’s questionable as to if they even should be ranked going into week 2.

Two bad football teams. JMU beats both by 50 or more.

What a sloppy game. Combined the 2 teams had 24 penalties for 248 yards.
JSU very undisciplined. Outgains NC A&T 403-148, but turns the ball over 4 times (4 fumbles, 3 lost), 1 INT, and has 14 penalties for 149 yards. Slew of personal fouls. They're also the most overrated. According to the TV graphics ranked #6. Prime example of how pre season polls are worthless. Each of the last 2 seasons have been the #3 seed after going 10-1 out of a cupcake conference, similar to SHSU. And they've proceeded to get "upset" in the round of 16 each time.
Their Clempson transfer QB did have a huge 2nd half
1st half 7 for 13, 54 yds, 1 INT
2nd half: 17 for 25, 264 yds, 2 TDs

RE: 2018 Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff JSU & NC A&T tonight, 7 PM, ESPN
Watched most of the game last night. I have never seen two more sloppy, unfocused and undisciplined teams as JSU and A&T were last night. I can not even begin to recall how many personal fouls and unsportsmanlike penalties there were with many of them dead ball fouls that extended a teams so called drives. JSU was supposedly ranked 6th prior to the game, as someone earlier posted they are almost like a clone of SHSU.
In any case the game is done and we will be heading to Raleigh end of the week for the Dukes opener at NCSt. Hope to see a great turnout of JMU Nation there!!

Opening games tend to be pretty "sloppy". I expect both the Dukes and Pack will exhibit our/their fair share of sloppy"ness" on Saturday - and potential rain may only exacerbate it.
I have to remind myself that CFB doesn't get the "luxury" of preseason/exhibition games like a lot of other sports do - even high schools get this (often two of 'em), the NFL gets 4 for crying out loud, many college hoops teams take advantage of an exhibition or at least a gimme game (like versus D3 to open), etc.
Remember, we were only up 7-0 at EZU last year at the half, facing the worst defense in D1A CFB which gave up 45 ppg. The Good Guys came out of the halftime locker room and got going. The game plan at Raleigh is to survive the first half, limit mistakes, and get the game to the 4Q in striking distance. Make the Pack's collective anal cavities tighten up like a tick on a dog's johnson with thoughts of "uh oh" and then out-play them down the stretch. Or, we can just go out there and beat the ever living crap out of them. That'll work too. Houston and team have my approval to blow out NCSU if they desire. :>)

Another thing with the opening games is thr NCAA the last # of years has limited summer camp practice time (no more 2 a days) and I believe less time in full pads. I think you’ll see opening weekend sloppy play pretty much nationwide..
