MTFAN, You want proof on attendance? These numbers were taken from the NCAA.
2017 Average attendance
WKU 15,706 Muts 15,620

2016 Average Attendance
WKU 17,705 Muts 17,243

2015 Average Attendance
WKU 17,960 Muts 17,210

Number of times stadium at or over capacity since modern renovations
WKU 4 Muts 0

So the next time you start spouting off about that Aluminum Can you call a stadium check your facts.

This concludes the lesson!

What?

Where did the NCAA get those numbers?

From Western.

This isn't a debate over who has higher attendance, you're arguing the wrong point.

The topic at hand is butts in seats vs tickets sold and Western, just like the rest of the country, reports tickets sold in football as well as basketball.

They came from the NCAA web site.

You're all morons and have too much time on your hands. Evidence is y'all are still trying to one up one the other on stupid attendance stuff. Would be funny if not sad.

But I especially appreciate this one. It's like you're patting yourself on the back for the cracker jack of a high school field you call a stadium. LMAO.

You could only dream of playing in an ultra nice brick and stone state of the art Cracker Jack stadium instead off a over sized erector set that is made of recycled aluminum cans and has as much curb appeal as pile junk cars.

Your gift for hyperbole is astounding.

I'm not sure if you exaggerate more in the positive for Houchens or the negative for JRF.

"ultra nice...state of the art"? You don't see a lot of stadiums, do you?

All i know is, we have played important games in Murfreesboro, and there were like 3000 people in the stadium, at best.

Something tells me you don't know what the definition of a dumpster fire is. There are actually a number of programs in this conference who could help you out.

I just enjoy message boards where so many people live in the .05 percent of extremes in their views.

Anyone who says in this conference we barely had 3K at a game is just demonstrating pure ignorance. We have had a game with only 3000 people but it was 16 years ago. Thanksgiving weekend against Utah St.

14 out of 15 in attendance in '17 (not counting FIU's 'home game' in Alabama)
ONE (1) season with 9 or more wins in FBS era
5 home games for 2018, 2 on Fridays
2-5 bowl game record over last 12 years
Uncaring city, frustrated alumni base
Administration that puts up with mediocrity for decades

Here's our Senior Day game against ODU. This look like 10k to you?

Call it what you want, it ain't pretty.

There's nothing extreme about my view of MT football. My view is that it is sucks. Of course I love the team and I hope we win and change the trajectory of the program but I'm not getting excited for gamedays anymore. Do you think people in Murfreesboro, save the small group of hard-core MT fans, have a different opinion?

You kill me sometimes. You criticize me saying I'm jumping off a ledge, because I say we are going to struggle in basketball over the next couple of years but then you spew this crap. One day you're chicken little. The next day you're the biggest kool aid drinkin homer. Pick a side.

And so far I haven't called it anything except not a dumpster fire. You're the one that called it that. It's just hard for me to call a program that hasn't had a losing season in seven years a dumpster fire. I acknowledge things aren't great. They could be better. But a dumpster fire? And I'm not addressing your picture which covers 10 percent of the stadium at a period in a time I don't know (just out of halftime maybe)?

Our attendance is bad. We are struggling in football attendance no doubt, because the community has become disinterested. But all of us in this league and league's like ours face the same issue. Ours is multiplied because the head coach doesn't promote the program. But we haven't hit dumpster fire status...yet. We will in the next couple of years though. Our entire athletic department is in jeopardy of regressing into an abyss.

Our football program HAS BEEN in a state of stagnation for years. You predicted our basketball program will fall apart with a new coach -- losing record this upcoming year. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say, not foresight. All I said about our basketball program was let's just wait until things shake out before the new season before making such claims. If it looks awful with transfers that have left in August or September, then okay, maybe we'll have some down years. That's not to be unexpected with a major shift like losing your all-time winningest coach. But one week after a new HC hire? Come on.

I know I called the football program a dumpster fire -- a subjective term to describe the STATE of the program. Not its future. I don't really care how you define dumpster fire. To me, that's where it's at. It's a money suck, like many struggling programs around the country... Eastern Michigan, Idaho, Georgia State... As you said, that (attendance mainly) isn't an issue unique to us. But to compare our basketball and our football programs is apples to oranges. One has been on an UPWARD trajectory over the last decade, the other has been stagnant at best. One has given us reason to be optimistic by doing more than just competing, the other is led by a coach who spouts off talking points about "I thought we competed" after just about every game no matter the final score. Yes, we played the game, obviously we 'competed.' Did we compete well? A lot of the time, no.

You just compared our program to EMU, GSU, and Idaho. Really? All I need to know about your thought process.

Five Year Record
MT 36-28

Idaho 19-41
EMU 17-44
GSU 17-44

But hey bro. Great comparison.

Epitome of butts in seats vs announced (sold) attendance.

The 2018 baseball season is not even two weeks old, but it appears Chicago White Sox fans are already disinterested.

Monday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays had an official attendance of 10,377, but the number of spectators actually at the stadium was much lower. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, only 974 people showed up.

If only the White Sox had the integrity and scruples of the Hilltopper basketball program when it comes to matters of attendance.

Why it's funny? Coming from a school where we once had as many people in your stadium as you did. Oh that and more attendance smack. Yeah, that never gets old.

Where was I talking smack? There will be around 9k there with listed attendance in the 15 to 18k range. That's if its not cold or raining....neither will affect the listed attendance

You're not only exaggerating the disparity you're claiming WKU doesn't do the exact same thing...

No where did I mention Western.....

I dont believe I'm exaggerating anything for a Friday Nov game probably starting at 7pm, maybe later

These Western Ky fans are the first to jump on someone about attendance when they usually have the worst attendance in football. They have never even sold out there tiny stadium and have embarrassed the conference with horrible attendance hosting CUSA championship football games.

False and that claim about conf. title game is no longer valid, you see FAU's stadium this past fall in perfect weather conditions?

I love that you needed to bring us into this because you lack an argument. You’re comparing yourselves to a team who only averaged 10,000 the year before, yet still had more at their championship game than you the following year. We never claim to be an attendance juggernaut. Western does on a regular basis (and you only count butts in seats!). So in order to deflect any responsibility, what do you do?

You must've forgotten to bold this part as well. No worries, I did it for you.

Oh, wait. Those were facts. But isn't the claim y'all had "horrible attendance hosting CUSA championship football games" a fact, as well? The hypocrisy.

Just own it.
