nice size and comes from a great program and league. Western Pa. has been good for UT for a while.

165 LBS! Sounds like he would blow away with a strong wind. Will definitely need to put some weight on. However we do get some very fine and exciting players from that area.

Former UT Safety Jermaine Robinson was 6'2" 158 lbs coming out of high school.

Yeah, you can pretty much add 30lbs to any player coming in from high school in their first year and a half in a college food/weight program.

I can pretty much add thirty pounds over Thanksgiving weekend. Nevertheless, there are guys like Knapke who hasn’t gained 30 pounds in three years. Football guys do seem to gain more easily.

Yeah, FB'ers usually don't go more than 15-20 yds at a time.

Hopefully our RBs will do that regularly.

Great job by UT to stay on local kids!

Go Rockets!!!

+1 This was in the Blah today also.

Unfortunately it was just a short blip at the end of a very long front page story about a Central Catholic player committing to Michigan State. 03-banghead

Last time that happened UT got an All American.

I can't figure this one out - who is this referring to at UT? Eric Page?

Yes. A CC player commited to the Buckeyes. Page stayed local @UT , became an All American and was the best player on the field when the Rockets played @OSU.

What threw me was the CC player that was mentioned this year as going to MSU - but I suspected you were making the comparison to someone local going "big time" instead of selecting UT. Sanzenbacher (sp?) had a nice career at OSU, but for a long time it looked like he was going to end up as a UT Rocket. He also graduated HS about 2 or 3 years before Page did. Page was a freshman the year they played in Cleveland and I think Sanzenbacher was either a soph or junior. Neither of them redshirted as I recall.

Page not only did NOT redshirt, he declared for the draft after his junior year. No NFL team picked him and then he got injured. He finally played 1 year in the NFL.

Sanzenbacher was a TV11 reporter for a while but he has not been on air recently.

We're all better for that...he was, shall we say, less seasoned. I believe that dating Ally Hausfeld (also on WTOL) forced one of them to leave the front of camera work for the station due to company policy.

Latest commit: https://247sports.com/Player/Jerome-Henderson-46055202

I love his height but he's a bit undersized in weight at 235. Toledo is his only reported offer as of now.

Updated 2019 Football Verbal Commits

* Michael Bergen -- Avon (Avon, OH) -- OT 6-5, 270
* Mike Coleman -- Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh, PA) -- CB 5-11, 155
* Joey Carroll -- St Francis De Sales (Toledo, OH) -- TE 6-5, 230
* Jerome Henderson -- McDowell (Erie, PA) -- SDE 6-6, 235

Expect to see this class start reeling in the commits over the next 3 months. May, June, July are big months for commitments.

235 is not a bad weight as a HS senior. The young man will probably end up at 260-270 when all is said and done. The staff probably see athleticism and length as a positive upside.

Unless you’re Luke Knapke, if you’re 6’6” or over, you’ll gain a ton in a college strength program.

My thoughts as well. He’ll put on more weight this summer and probably get to UT (assuming his commitment stays) around 250. Add in our strength and conditioning and a couple of trips with Terry, myself, and Abe to Hooters and he’ll be in the 260-270 range in no time. That 6-6 height is exciting and I cant wait to see him in a Toledo uniform...
