it's rare that a huge event happens down there at the same time that downtown is packed with daily workers. if they had a good transportation system, the birmingham parking authority decks further south would be fine. part of this should be trying to make it so that you don't have to drive up right next to the stadium.

Hopefully, the BJCC is eyeing the property on and around Carraway. It might not appear to be the case at first glance, but there is more than enough adjacent vacant land and blighted properties that can be cleared to create parkland and car lots. Not to mention, the views would be incredible.

I heard someone from BJCC mention Carraway when parking was discussed...

Dead-on correct! There is a lot of vacant land due north of the stadium property.

A tram from Carraway to the stadium would be worthwhile.

Once you factor in shuttle service vehicles to move fans to the stadium, several places that have quantity parking become potential answers. One not mentioned so far is the remote parking facility at the south end of the airport. It is designed to meet the need for those who intend to be out of town for an extended period of time, but it could be used for tailgating for games at the stadium.
