Nicky Norton never fully recovered from the injury, but he started for a reason. He has a degree and played four years (one of them for 31 seconds or whatever it was), so I don't begrudge him leaving. But would we not be better had he stayed?

Nate Darling played matador defense, runs like a 65-year-old man after a dose of Metamucil and has a weakness for trash talk (and just how does a Canadian trash talk anyway? "Yah dunkssss yah doughnut in the cahhhfee backwahdssss, eh?"). But he could shoot 3's (6 for 6!), was not afraid to attack the basket and could make weird layups.

So is there evidence that Ehsan is shaking things up, or is he reacting to the shaking?

I have a hard time believing a college coach in today's game would ask a career 42% three-point shooter to leave.

FWIW I was told that ND was told he would not be starting next year without significant improvement and would have less PT. Have not heard regarding NN. Based on that at least some of it is not reacting. It’s being proactive. I know some do not give HCRE the benefit of doubt but I tend to believe he is being proactive knowing he needs to get quicker and faster and make a major improvement immediately. Beforw I am called a HCRE apologist again my expectations are to compete for championships every year and last season was unacceptable. I just don’t see any point in doing anything other than supporting the program knowing a change will not be made this season and bashing the guy and players on social media does the program zero good.

If you watch UAB play, you saw our weakness...we all knew guard play needed an upgrade. You should always recruit players capable of taking playing time from your current players. Coach Eshan is doing what's best for the program. Good luck Nick and Darling.

I assumed this would be the case. Instead of working to improve he chose to leave if that’s the case. We saw what darling and Norton brought as a backcourt, and nobody was satisfied with the results. That was with 2 outstanding forwards. It may backfire, but i feel like coach is making the right moves. We are starting with a clean slate and everybody is earning their time.

That is the part that made no sense to me either............unless he promised the new guys a lot of playing time, which can be a slippery slope.

RE: Nate Darling to Transfer
Unless Darling had little confidence in his ability, knew his own weaknesses and didn't think he could improve in that area.

RE: Nate Darling to Transfer
Darling was always a role player and three point specialist in my mind. The big minutes and PT the last couple years probably didn't make it palatable to consider a lesser role or coming off the bench. If he didn't want to work on improving or going back to a role more commensurate with his overall talent level/defensive liabilities, then so be it. Not a huge loss in my mind. Points to locker room upheaval and instability in my mind though.

His backcourt mate in HS was the #1 pick in the last NBA draft. Might lead to understandably unrealistic expectations.

Presently, our guards expected to play next year are Bryant, Perry, Lovan, and Boyce. I see those last two as undersized power forwards more than guards, but they're both certainly more athletic than Darling. However, seems to me that Darling would have complimented those guys pretty well as the third or fourth guard on the floor (Darling was already playing over Perry).

The only thing that makes sense is that we must have some mystery unannounced recruit(s) in the bag.

I wouldn’t believe anything said about mystery recruits. we tried to land Coleman over last few days, now he’s on a trip to St. Louis. Wiley is visiting USA. Nichols visiting FSU, not on the radar of Cunningham. I don’t see Fredericks passing up opportunity to stay home and play in Tampa or going to at a basketball program as good as Cincy. that leaves Butler, Antonio Williams, Derek st. Hilaire. Isaac Chatman is a nonqualifier. No reports out on Nick Marshall. at the moment, it doesn’t look as exciting as we’d hope. Don’t have a read on Joseph Chartouny or Khwan Fore
