This is overblown. Yes, the MWC isn't as strong as it was. But Boise wasn't in that MWC anyway. The MWC now is at least as strong as the WAC was for most of Boise's 100 wins in 10 years run.

Dude, they were in the freaking WAC 3.0 during their top 5 national run. The WAC with Idaho, New Mexico St and Louisiana Tech etc. People keep talking this nonsense....

Boise State's first two Fiesta Bowl victories came while in the WAC.
Of their 11 appearances in the polls only three have been in MWC, the other 8 while in the WAC.

I think a strong case can be made that having to face a deeper conference has caused whatever malaise Boise State may be experiencing rather than a weaker MWC harming them.

The MWC is a huge step up from the WAC. They can't pencil in easy wins against Idaho and NMSU each year like they used to. Part of what got Boise ranked back then was they way they dismantled their conference foes. Not as many blowouts any more.

The conference arguement is a fair one....

However- OOC/Bowl losses in the period
2008-12 2
2013-17 8

oh, and before you say it-
vs ranked teams OOC/bowls
2008-12 7-2
2013-17 1-2(that's right, only win in the last 5 years(it's actually 6 as they had no ranked wins in 2012) was vs Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl in 2014).
