Well, they're not bringing us a new basketball arena.

It's a renovation of the existing. It badly needs it. From the concepts I saw it will look really nice.

I’m hoping it will help Bham get the first rounds of the tournament again. Should be a great renovation.

It can be debated whether Bham needs to pay for a new football stadium but there's no doubt the renovation of the civic center is badly needed. I'm tired of having of seeing big concerts going to cities like little rock, Tulsa and Louisville but not Birmingham. Oh yeah, and basketball.

people forget that a 90,00sf exhibition hall will be part of the stadium. Attached.

Is the arena renovation supposed to be complete roughly the same time as the stadium in 2021? I would think this would help our case to get the CUSA tournament back.

Curious. Has the location of this been determined? I assume on the west to better connect with the existing facility?

It wraps around the front as schematically designed. See the picture in the first post. Its that fat area behind #4 (Entertainment district expansion) and the stadium in green. It has two elevated walks attached to it. It's all subject to change but that was the first blush at it.

The Concert Hall and the Theater are the same age as the original arena. Has there been any mention of refurbishing or renovating either of them?

Legacy Arena(basketball)
Regions Field(baseball)
Bham Legion field(soccer)

You forgot the Crossplex.
Speaking of the Crossplex, just imagine if it had been built adjacent to the BJCC... B'ham would've had its own mini Olympic Village.

Regardless of whether we own the facilities or not, you are right. Few programs in the country (even in the Power 5) will be playing in facilities as nice as UAB. That’s going to continue to improve our recruiting efforts. It also makes us an attractive site for conference tournaments and other NCAA events.
