Congrats to UAB. I findself oddly rooting for them sports or otherwise occasionally. UAB and Charlotte seem like our sister schools

$3 mil per year for 30 years for a new $174 million stadium, renovation of Legacy Arena and other improvements to the Downtown Convetion Center Complex. Thinking "up to 55,000 seats" is a tad large for the Blazers, but the city probably has their eyes on a bowl game.

45K permanent seats, expandable to 55K.

This could be a good move by towns hosting SBC schools, consider it A&P spending. In the case of A-State, if Jonesboro created a $million fund (to be replenished from each game) to help bring in high profile opponents and another 8-10K additional fans to the city, probably increase both fans and students long term. Cities and states routinely invest hugh sums and tax incentives to bring in new businesses when the local university is the perfect industry (clean, higher salaries,) that goes unnoticed. Has anyone seen a economic impact study of what one, one hundred, or 1000 students means to a towns economy? Schools should promote the impact on an ongoing basis.

I have seen studies showing about 40-60k per student per year depending on the university location. ymmv

Jonesboro A&P has been giving AState about $100,000 a year for athletic events but I think it goes away with the Convention Center deal.
