Why wouldn't you place your own school with the F_U's?

The AAC and MWC have the advantage in access to the NY6, and enjoy media exposure that isn't comparable to the MAC, Sun Belt, and C-USA. This is an idea to level the playing field among those that aren't in the Cartel.

I'd hate to not play against App State and Ark State.

In the arrangement mentioned in the original thread, you have up to 3 opportunities to plan for annual series. In exchange for the geographic arrangements, you gain conference series with USM, UAB, WKU, MTSU, more leverage in OOC negotiation, a playoff series potential, and highly flexible scheduling year to year with more power to demand home-homes / higher payouts in cupcake games.

Doesn't scratch any itches for AState fans.

We lose the Cajuns one of our oldest opponents.

We replace trips to USA and Troy with longer trips to Texas.

While we don't get wound up about Georgia State like we do the Cajuns, Jags and Trojans, Georgia State is closer than North Texas and other than ULM, UNT would be the closest school in this alignment

As a dream to have the three of G5 conference teams level, I like it.

But there is no way that the MAC will change. They are the most stable conference ever.

ODU wants out of CUSA but can’t afford the buyout. Only thing that could happen if CUSA and Belt sat down and made a few swaps of their eastern most schools for western most schools.

For AppState I would rather play ODU than Texas State but as an overall conference member Texas State > ODU by a wide margin. But Texas State is an outlier as far as location.

A school or schools is going to switch sides or organize a break. Outcomes that have everyone singing camp songs and making friendship bracelets don't happen.

Yea Marshall would be all over this one.

Tighter foot prints and regional rivalries are key in building momentum as well as enhancing the brand for recruiting. Drawing GS into a tighter relationship with Florida and the deep southeast would be good long term but yikes the slug would be brutal. No scenario that I can see would bring the optimism that the current arrangement brings.

The answer is no I don't like it.
