Two or None: The Big East recommends a solution to the 'one and done' problem
This from Awful Announcing:

Big East convenes and recommends a 'two or none' rule change for players to be eligible to enter the NBA

Basically, kids can go straight out of high school or they have to spend at least 2 years in college, that's the proposal. It's similar to how they do it in baseball where you get 3 years.

Quote:There is no question in our minds that were this to occur, certain third party influences that are at the heart of the criminal investigation would be re-directed away from college programs, and at least some of the problems the sport faces today would be eliminated. The NCAA would still be left with other challenges with respect to ethical conduct in the recruiting area, but the impact of a draft eligibility change would be immediate and substantial. If the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association, who together control draft eligibility, do not agree to make a change, we believe it will be very difficult to bring about meaningful reform at the highest levels of college basketball. Accordingly, we urge the NCAA to devote whatever efforts and resources are needed to publicly and privately persuade those two entities that their interests and the interests of the sport would be best served by such a move.

This article is at least more honest than most in that it directs the source of frustration at the NBA. But it does not resolve the fact that even if top players have multiple options available, unless they are payed at 70K or above, MBB in college will still be the next attractive option. And considering that even without the top talent that March Madness will still make money, players will continue to clamor for a piece.

Commenting on the idea of paying players as a means to curb cheating, Tony Barnhart once said that he never knew anyone that turned down a raise.

And I think that's what it comes down to, people will generally take money for their services if it's offered. With recruiting, multiple parties are clamoring for your services so it's too natural for someone to tempt you with some cash.

I do think the 'two or none' rule would be better than what we have. They should also allow you to retain eligibility if you enter the draft and don't like your position. With that said, people will always find a way to cheat.
