RE: SunBelt QB Projections 2018
I don't doubt Satterfield as a QB coach at all. Don't doubt at all that whoever is his next guy will be playing at a high level. But Zac Thomas has thrown 10 passes in mostly garbage-time situations. It won't come together right away.

If I was taking bets on where QBs would finish statistically, it'd be:
1. Hansen - he's a veteren and has pretty much all of his major targets back. he might set conference records, especially if stAte still can't run the ball
2. Evans - put on a great show, and has a good running game and a miniature DeSean Jackson at receiver
3. Werts - as a freshman and with complete trash coaching, he ran for 900+ yards and is better passing statistically than Kevin Ellison and Favian Upshaw.

He's also had to deal with a lot of instability in offensive coaches since he's been here. This will be his third offensive coordinator and he's only a RS Sophomore. Hopefully decent coaching and some stability will help him reach his full potential soon.

I thought the same thing watching our game vs. GS last year. The kid showed he could play. I remember thinking "This guy will be a nightmare to contain three years down the road."

His biggest problem is that he's teeny tiny. He'll go down even if the wind so much as blows in the wrong direction. He needs to bulk up and work on evading tackles, and he could be a force for us.

I'd like to start with the blocking scheme actually creating numbers advantages so he's in more one on one situations instead of having to beat multiple defenders.

If he's moving, he's harder to tackle. The problem was last year most plays were dead at the line.

Ask App guys how terrifying a small Georgia Southern QB can be.

RE: SunBelt QB Projections 2018
I’m sure he just looked at last season ended and used the guy who was QB and listed him or if he graduated picked the guy next on depth chart

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if our starter is a true freshman

Orlando Whateveritis just desperately grasps for clicks with preseason FBS nonsense.

I'm thinking you need to rewatch some of the games from the end of the year like I'm doing right now.

You'll change your mind.

The big advantage we have is that Silvers didn't play last spring as he sat out with a hand injury. Kaleb and Sawyer were the QBs last spring and have been through that process. The players trust them. There will be a learning curve for whoever gets the job, but I think it will be quicker than usual.

Talent-wise Sawyer Smith is the most talented QB we've ever had at Troy. He is also the highest rated QB/offensive player we ever recruited out of HS. I expect a lot from him. He was UCFs top QB target and one of their top commits before he decommitted. Had also offers from USF, Mississippi St and Syracuse, among others (USM, Air Force, App). Starting behind an experienced OL also helps. First few weeks will be interesting, esp playing vs Boise St at home... he is a dual-threat btw which suits our system.
Most talented is, in the very least, premature...

How many times have you watched the 52-0 beatdown that our neighbors to the west doth not speak of?

Once in person and watched the video once....so I guess twice altogether.

I was in too much shock during the game to comprehend what was happening.
