The MAC has a couple of quality teams in it for sure.
Marcus Kennedy was MVP of the GLIC his Jr year and I believe 1st team all MAC his senior year at EMU. He tore up the MAC too. He would have been an NBA player if he were 6'9 vs 6'6"
And might not have been even 6' 6". Probably more like 6' 5" (and maybe a fraction).

Right you are. Portland drafted him in the second round. In today's world he would be playing in the G-League with a really good chance to get called up at some point.

I'd always heard Marcus Kennedy manufactured his own goggles. Anybody know if that was true?

God I miss the days of EMU being nationally relevant in basketball.
And to think CMU was never nationally relevant in hoops and still aren't.

CMU knocked off Georgetown in the first round of the Mideast Regional and then lost to
#2 Kentucky the next game in 1975. That was a pretty good team with Roundfield and McElroy.

The 2003 team with Kaman and Manciel lost to #9 Duke in the second round.

You look like an ASS. CMU with Chris Kaman and Mike Manciel had a nice run in the NCAA tournament not that long ago. Guess what, they also had a mini dynasty in football too with Dan LeFevour and Antonio Brown. Sounds like you have been living in a cave.

Bob I may look like an ass but you outshine everyone on this board in that category so congratulations
No one thinks of Central when it comes to hoops Eastern and Braun yes Central no and we were discussing football

RE: O/T: Ferris State - National Champs
I think I'll let Wikipedia weigh in. My read is that since the turn of the millennium, there have been a few schools with good runs, namely, Akron and Buffalo. Could also add Kent for their run '99 - 2002 and Ohio for a few good years scattered in.
CMU had one good year in 2003. Matter of fact, other than WMU, the MAC West has been AWOL in MBB for the last dozen years or so.
I would not call CMU a hoops power for one good season 15 years ago.
Be careful about one-hit wonders, FGCU, and probably Loyola, which was picked 5th in the MVC. CMU was a one hit wonder 15 years ago. (hint: there are one hit wonders every year in the tourney. I remember two years ago Middle Tennessee State beating MSU and in recent years a non-power, Mercer, upset Duke).

RE: O/T: Ferris State - National Champs
BTW, if one wants to talk about CMU being a hoops power, one has to go back to the early/mid 1970s (Dan Roundfield era), but we are talking almost a half-century ago, and 33 RPM records.
Many EMU's students' PARENTS maybe weren't even born then. That era is one for the history books as was the great EMU run from 1988 - 98.
And the 70s was the era of the University of Detroit Titans and we know how far they have fallen.
