RE: No Spring Game
Dear Broncos,
Eastern does exactly what Major Hoople has described for their spring game. It gives a better view of who some of the better offensive and defensive players may be, in my opinion.

Go Broncos!!

I look at the spring game as another chance to promote your product. The game is secondary and the format can be tweaked to insure player injuries won’t occurr.

Our marketing department needs to put on their thinking caps and produce a family friendly event to build a young fan base.

Kids kick off
Kids kick field goals
Player autographs
Player selfies
Catch a pass from a Bronco QB

Drawings for memerobilia
Drawings for season pass
Drawing for a press box pass

Tailgate with free hotdogs
Let vendors set up stands around the stadium to sample products.

There are a ton of low cost ideas that will generate foot traffic and interest.

Our marketing department is stuck on posters, thunderclappers, and sponsored events like Comm U and ECCU Kids day. Might be a great project for a Marketing class at the business school.

While I wasn’t a Fleck fan, the guy was out in the community humping the bushes to generate interest in WMU. Our marketing people need to be doing that.

Good ideas, but would be MUCH better to catch passes from...get selfies with...kick field goals with....and watch, the Bronco Dance Team. THAT would be smart marketing.

The Bronco Dance team is outstanding! Two years ago, it placed 2nd in the nation at the annual "NDA National" dance team competition in Daytona Beach, featuring dance teams from across the nation. Last year, 12th place, which was still very good.

The ladies are preparing for another strong competition in a few weeks.

If you ever watched one of their routines from this competition, you would be impressed with their athleticism. And, yes, they are r-e-a-l-l-y good looking, too...

I agree with you 100%. I was just kind of making a point for all the fans that just want to complain without a real reason for doing so. Heck, some of the complainers probably don't go anyways.

I would love to see it be a better event than they are planning but since it's not going to be, instead of complaining that it's not a real game(which it never was anyways), I am going to make the best of it and just enjoy what they are willing to give us at this point.

My daughter’s 11, and has been in competitive dance since she was 5. Has told us many times she wants to get a business degree and a dance minor at MSU (I’ve told her I won’t pay for a dance major) .

The WMU dance team was at her studio last week decked out in their Dance Team jackets. They rehearsed for the kids and judged some of the girls dance routines they were doing for a competition at Miller. Anyway, she came home totally geeked about wanting to go to Western and try out for the dance team.

That’s marketing.

Don't care if it's a game or practice - the good news is that it's at Waldo and not the Seelye Center

You get a rolodex from the athletic department, I’ll find you a graphic designer, I’ll personally print out enough rosters for everyone, someone tell the team when to show up, and let’s make this happen for 2019!

Exactly how WMU marketing thinks. You should get them your resume. Good pension if you can stick it out for 25 years.

Let me put it this way, a job in WMU Marketing is the only job less challenging than US Civil Service. If you get off watching paint dry, you've probably have too much energy for Western's Marketing Group.

Well put. Let me put it another way, the ONLY good idea they've had in the 5 decades I've been following WMU football is boom sticks. That was fun. Outside of that-ZILCH.

I would have missed it anyway with my son on Spring Break, but this stinks. They better put that much more effort into the summer fan appreciation day.

I’m reading between the lines in some comments from the coaches is that there’s so many injuries and missing players that it’s near impossible to field two teams... so they changed it up for this year to protect the players.

They better figure out how to do things differently. The injury excuse will fly for a year...maybe...but at some point, you can't keep going to that well. Got to look into the mirror and wonder what your doing if you can't field a team for a spring game.

In other surprising news the outer space is big. Get the sense this was always the desired outcome.

Zero concern for fans I guess. No spring access, awful home schedule.
As others have said a lot of schools don’t do teams they do O v D. They obviously do that every practice so.....
