Will the MAC ever improve to the level of the AAC?

Not without increasing $$$$, and getting and retaining better coaches. To simplify, just get better players.

No matter in mac or aac, if you go undefeated in football you play in same access bowl, not much of a difference there. The mac will never catch them in bball. They are top heavy with a few historically good programs, (cinci, Houston, uconn)

RE: MAC->AAC
No, and the American will never become a Power conference either. (Although with how many high-seeded basketball teams they got this year, that's impressive. Though I'd much rather see them win then the P5, thankfully they all had early exits)

However, I feel like the MAC is at least on par with the other G5 conferences, maybe not the MountWest.

The AAC choked this season in post season play. We slurp them and yet they have their own downfalls.

Yeah they have UConn but we can be proud of 2 WBB teams on their way to the SWEET 1604-rock

Let's stop acting surprised a P6 BIG east Mish mosh of teams is above the MAC.

Memphis
Orlando
Houston
Tampa
Cincinnati
Phillidelphia

vs.

Toledo.
Buffalo
Akron
Kalamazoo
DeKalb
Athens

Using your logic, is the Big 12 the best conference since they have the most (4) teams in the Final Sixteen?

Uh, that would in no way, shape or form equate to U ofToledoFan’s logic. Being proud that the MAC has two teams in the Sweet 16 is not the same as saying the best conference is the one with the most Sweet 16 teams.

True but I'm talking in terms of fan bases, attendance, prestige, etc.

As far as fan base/attendance, AAC has the inherent advantage of bigger schools in huge metro areas and also warmer climates.
Comparison:
UCF 2017 season - avg att: 36,000 *66,000 students in Metro area over 2 million
WMU 2016 season - avg att: 23,800 *20,000 students in metro area of 340,000

Can the mods lock this before we go through 20-something pages of pointless chatter like the other F Chips thread?

RE: MAC->AAC
If the AAC ever gets raided deeply, like 4 schools, and backfills with existing G5's then they will be about level with the MAC.

RE: MAC->AAC
How about the MAC is greater than the PAC 12 ? Bowl games we were 1-4, they were 0-9, NCAA tournament, we were 1-1, they were 0-3, and our champion drilled their champion. lol

PAC 12 has been in steady decline
