2) hes interested in another job and knows Lomax will get his release. With a hope he reopens his recruitment
I was told the same thing (that Marshall told Lomax he will grant him a release), by 2 separate sources, both ONCE removed from talking directly to Lomax.
I agree with your premise. Either Marshall is a class act (likely either way), or he is at least considering a move, and knows it will happen then, regardless.
I mean, this is not a normal situation. I can't recall another time when a recruit signed with a school, then had the person who raised him become HC at another school. Of course the kid will want to play for the guy who raised him, especially when he is a legend in his own hometown.
And for those saying Lomax had to know this before he signed, that's bull. Lomax signed in November. Penny had been campaigning for the job for quite a while, but there was no way to know for sure in November that Tubby would be fired. Or even that Penny would be hired.
At the time, I'm sure Penny encouraged Lomax to go elsewhere. And as I said before, about 2 weeks ago, admin had decided to give Tubby a 3rd season, then flipped and decided to pull the plug. So even though the possibility had been discussed by sportswriters for much of the season, it wasn't going to become reality now, until just the last couple of weeks.
