GCU's Post Season Destination
Well, after a tough loss in the WAC Tourney Final, GCU will not be headed to the Big Dance. It was an ambitious plan, and we fell a few points shot of achieving it. I'm still proud of the guys' effort, though.

Now that the most hoped-for option is off the table, where does everyone think the Lopes will end up? CBI? CIT? Insanely off chance of the NIT?

They are headed to the CIT, I have been told this before the WACT if they didn't with the WACT they'd more than likely head to the CIT.

They could likely win the CIT if they play the way they played for the majority of the first half last night. We've been there three times before, and made a run back in 2016.

Is the CBI any more prestigious? I know they're both pay to play, and teams host games at their home courts (GCU would have a packed house and make it look good on TV). We haven't gone there before, so I just wonder if they get better teams on average. I know they're the tournament with the best of three championship series.

CBI allows teams with sub .500 records into their tournament where the CIT you have to have a winning record to be considered. With that being said the CBI will have more P5 teams in the field than the CIT. I personally like the CIT more so than the CBI b/c the CIT is a mid major tournament and its fun to see these non P5 schools compete.

I like that better too, I think. And I firmly believe you should have a winning record to compete in the postseason. So, CIT is likely our best choice.

They’re playing four games tomorrow to tip it off. I wonder if there are frantic preparations being made for us to host one tomorrow? Or is having played last night late and just getting home this morning going to prevent that from happening? I just know GCU is going to be one of the best environments for a CIT game in terms of crowd and stuff. I know Liberty is hosting tomorrow. It feels like you would have had to have been eliminated at some point last week from other possible considerations.

I'm sure there have been agreements with schools who get eliminated late in tournaments to help them out.

Yeah. So far, no other teams who have accepted CIT bids have more than 20 wins. They’d love to have GCU in it, and even more, host a game or two. I wonder when they’ll finish the list and release the schedule? They’re always so slow and disorganized it feels like.

Did anyone else get an email saying they purchased tickets for the CBI? I didn’t do anything so are they giving them away for free?

Free for students and season ticket holders. I received an email with 8 (I have 8 season tickets) and then I just got another email with 8 more...

Ah that’s good. I thought they did some sort of auto-renew thing and charged me. Wish I could make it to the game but midweek games are a bit too hard to make it to from Denver.
