No, actually Sun Belt basketball refs are atrocious. There seems to be near consensus on that except for you.

It's possible for officiating to be crappy and unbiased. Happens a lot in fact.

And everyone complains of refs, from pee wee to the pros. Usually it’s the loser of the games. You have three people watching ten people in fast motion and sometimes the err but most times they don’t. With GSU, they play so hard and fast that they are going to get called, period. Don’t like it, petition Hunter to change how you play.

There is a saying that if everyone complains about refs, they must be doing something right.

Checked the game-flow chart just for fun. Yes, Georgia State had a 19-point lead at 57-38 with 10 minutes on the clock. Sizable lead, but things happen at this level of basketball.

At 5:51 on the clock, Hamilton made two free throws to make it 60-49 GSU. That's six minutes to go and 11 points to make up. We've blown leads that big with three minutes on the clock or less, helped by our tendency to clam up on offense in games like this. If your big players start making a few shots that weren't falling earlier, things get REALLY interesting.

If that's how you called games, maybe it's no mystery why there's "Former" in your handle.

Seriously, you're being ridiculous if you think we should stop watching the refs with a critical eye because the game is "decided" at that point. It wasn't.

I've said the crappy officiating could screw a team at any time. Saying that "GSU plays a certain style of defense, so you should expect those calls" is a total cop-out if you're not looking at the individual calls themselves, case by case (which I did, on replay). I just think the refs are incompetent across the board and we happened to catch a few more bad ones than they did yesterday.

And no, I'm not crying. I just want the refereeing to improve overall.

You know these aren’t Sun Belt refs, right? You these are SEC refs, right? You know the SEC is the richest conference in the world, right? You know everyone ******* about refs, right?

We have SEC referees for Saturday regular-season games and for tournament games? Have a hard time believing that.

At least one of them, Rick Randall, seems to have no affiliation with the SEC at all. That's all I've had time to check out.

Officials for Sunday - Rick Randall, Pat Evans, Sean Casey, Glenn Tuitt

From searching Rick Randall's games this season, he's worked AAC games, Mountain West games, Sun Belt games, Pac-12 games, MVC games and WAC games. Googling his name with some other keywords brought up a good number of results, and I found a lot of box scores from the last few years from those conferences, but not a single box score from an SEC game.

He was also disciplined and suspended by the MVC in 2013 for a bad game and a bad goaltending call in particular:

The claim that "these are SEC refs," meaning all of them, seems to be an incorrect assumption on FoUTA's part. I'll see what similar searches bring up for the other three.

ETA: I realize my characterization of these guys as "Sun Belt refs" is misleading, as they work other conferences. I just mean the pool of refs we draw from, like every conference draws from a pool of refs. The pool of refs we draw from seems to suck.
