Always thought DeCourcy was pretty good in his UC analysis. Props to Mick!

IMO he absolutely deserved AAC COY but they always hold it against a guy if they were picked to win and they actually do...instead giving it to a guy who finished in 3rd place rather than 6th. Meh.

True. Though... Houston is much better than I can remember them being in a long, long time.

True as well, but UC appears better than it’s been since probably the 2001-02 season.

Not one bit. Bruce Weber was the AP National Coach of the year in 2005. Raise your hand if you think Bruce Weber is a good coach?

He was good enough to whip Huggins twice. I watched both games in person.

yup

I was thinking about that days ago; where will this team rank at the end of it all?
So much yet to be decided.

Well, Mick certainly has his chance to convince (or at least silence) the doubters this year.

I was at that So. Miss game. That UC team was one of my least favorites of all time. Hard to watch. Looked like they were all having a root canal done during games.

Dear God, yes. They were rough to watch.

Taron Barker is probably a nice dude but was not exactly popular in our house full of dudes on Clifton avenue that year. Ugh. Think Huggs recruited point guards based off how much they benched a few too many years.

We had a tough schedule that year. Three C-USA teams were ranked, and we played 4 nonconference teams that were ranked for a good part of the year (Oregon, Okie State, Xavier, Dayton). Oregon was the Pac-10 champion and we beat them by 25 points.

RPI = 37, Strength of Schedule = 7

That Oregon game was the Tony Bobbitt game.

8 Seed. Got the noon game on Thursday vs the Zags. Huggs and Chuck both got the boot that game.

That was Lenny Stokes team that year. Played a brutal schedule and got.some nice wins vs Ok. St., Oregon, and the Ville. That was Wade's last year at Marquette and Louisville had Fransiso Garcia and Dean that year. Marquette went to the final 4 that year, Wade dropped a tri-dub on Tubby Smith and the number one seeded wildCats.

Dwayne Wade was so good in college. The two Hall of Famers I remember watching us play against in college at that time were Wade in BB and Ben in FB. You knew it within minutes of watching those guys play they were something special. Of course I didn't realize they'd both end up all time greats in their sports.

Marquette played their first round games in Indianapolis that year, and I went to watch. Wade just dominated those games. It was obvious to see that he was going to be a great pro.

His play in Indy probably made a good impression on the IU faithful before they tapped Crean. I actually think Tom Crean is a pretty good coach but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a Dwayne Wade to carry your team to a Final Four. And Crean obviously recruited him.
