While watching virginia tech last night I noticed Jeff Reynolds on their bench. He was an assistant at the Dub a number of years ago.

1. It was a bad game for State, and a bad game for Keatts.

Who blamed the players? Nobody knows what was said in the huddle. But it's not the head coach's job to keep up with the timeouts. That's the job of an assistant coach. But hammering a first year coach who hasn't had time to implement his system with his players is rediculous. So many couch coaches, so little coaching jobs.
I coach from the sidelines too. There is no doubt he’s done a good job there this year, but 82 likes to pound his chestt when they do well he needs to man up when they don’t. And if you come out and basically talk $hit in the media like he did, then you deserve the $hit that comes at you when you choke against a lesser team
It is ABSOLUTELY up to the HC to know and tell his players first and last thing not to call a TO when you have none left and Keatts' face said it all after Johnson called one with none left.
And I have to agree with Seahawkhoops that if you're gonna start talking a little trash you absolutely better be ready to back it up. ACC isn't the CAA, and just because you beat UNC/Duke in the reg. season doesn't mean BC won't show up and beat you to death with basically 2 scorers.

If that is true it has be about the worst way ever to tell players to not call a TO . Last 10 seconds of the game with the crowd roaring and he is gonna yell that? He can't be that dumb or maybe he just choked under the pressure. Either way it is his fault.

At a minimum, we know he was reminding them on the court. I cannot believe they didn't tell them in the huddle as well. You're grasping at straws. And, if they were told in the huddle and reminded on the court, the coaches can't do anymore.

So, if Keatts drew up a brilliant out of bounds play where the state tied the game, would you be giving him credit? The answer is YES, and you should. The reality is things didn't go well, they turned the ball over on the out of bounds play(he mind mindbogglingly had a shorter player in-bounding). After that play another player called a timeout which they didn't have. Man up! If it goes well, you take credit for the coach, if it doesn't you ding the coach. That's how it goes, it goes both ways.

Markell Johnson then raced down the court for a layup but called timeout immediately after making it. N.C. State had none left.
“I was just caught up in the moment, trying to win, get a quick timeout, stop the game,” Johnson said. “That was it. I knew in my head we didn't have any. I was just so caught up in the game.”

He did draw up a great play, but the players have to execute. I posted an N & O article to help Mullet and maybe it can help you.

Putting one of the shortest guys on the Floor in-bounding the ball against a guy with huge wingspan is NOT a great play. Sorry.

I have never understood why coaches have short players inbound the ball, but they do it all the time. Don't agree with doing it. But really hoops, you are grasping at straws. Lower seeded teams upset higher seeds all the time. Even your famous Syracuse coach loses to less talented teams. Especially away from NY. Doesn't make him a bad coach.
