They do, we played UNC there a few years ago
That place was super tiny though. I didn't know if they had an 8 to 10K areana

Having a host school or # 1 host would be disastrous if that ends up going to a northern school. Even going to Baltimore was a bad idea. "Neutral" or "central" locations sound good, but only really worked when this was a Virginia-based league. Now that the league is spread out, with the best fanbases being in the south, there is zero reason to try to find a geographic center that will get you solid attendance. It doesn't exist.
The northern schools can complain all they want, but they won't get decent attendance even if the tournament ends up in Philly or Boston. Until that happens, they have no right to complain. Just enjoy your vacation to a southern city. There has to be a lot worse things than having high 50's or better temperatures to enjoy. Meanwhile, while the CAA tournament was going on, there was a Nor'easter going on up north, causing miserable weather.
I get that we have limited options, because only 2-3 cities end up bidding for the tournament on a year-to-year basis. But until there's no other options, rotating host school/# 1 seed for the whole tournament is a really bad idea.
Your weather argument is weak.
There are plenty of tournaments held in the North and Midwest. It’s wasnt all that warm and balmy in the Low Country the last few days either.
You would be a fool not to attend a tourney to root for your team just because of a little cold or snow. So what.
The Nor’Easter started after the title game ...
That's fine, but what we definitely KNOW will be the case, is that the weather will be nice in Charleston in March. Some years, it'll even be beach weather.
It's not a weak argument. Don't people like vacation spots because of the weather? Boston is a fine place to go in the summer. Late winter, not so much.
Bill Murray went to the title game because he lives in Charleston. Wonder why he chose to live there...
Look no one is saying the weather in Charleston isn’t better than Boston. But early March offers no guarantees of great weather in either city.
Maybe you look at going to tournament games as a vacation... I don’t.
You’re telling me if UNCW had to play a NCAA tourney game in Boise or Minneapolis, you wouldn’t go because it’s 32 degrees with some snow? You wouldn’t go outside to restaurants and bars because it’s too cold?
That’s my point.

I may go, but probably not my wife. In Charleston, or similar, easier to convince casual fans to go as well. Unfortunately i was unable to go this year, but usually do make a vacay out of it. Play some golf between games etc.

The attendance for the UNCW UNC game was 6,470. Assuming that was a sellout, I think that would be fine and would look great on TV. I wonder if they would be interested.

If you're talking about playing UNC there, never again. That was supposed to be our home. They got the home unis and most of the game tickets.

I went to the last year in Baltimore, and it mostly sucked.
Went to 2/3 in Charleston and several in Richmond.
Charleston has been the best spot to date.

Yeah I'm all for compromise. If Charleston is too far south, we can move it up north to Myrtle Beach

I could actually see it being in Raleigh or Greensboro. Those cities have hosted a lot of tourneys. And have to believe they could help create a really good experience.

For selfish reasons, I like this idea.

I understand Hampton is doing some renovations on the coliseum up there. The bill & the virgin fans wouldn't mind the tournament going back there. If the venue was fixed up it would not be the worst site.

Me too but personally I think both venues are wayyyyyy too big for the CAA
