110% then? (I was assuming we topped out at 100%.)

But that is a consideration in the overall evaluation of a coach.

Had they lost yesterday and Saturday then took a quick dump in the AAC tourney, there may have been some groundswell.

The team looked great and (again) to Tubby's credit his teams do not crumble when faced with adversity. This might be the most strong willed, mentally tough team since the 07-08 squad.

Our athletic dep't runs a $49M business subsidized by $15M from student fees and university funds.

We were never firing Tubby with $9.75M left on his contract. It was never happening. Been saying this for 2 months, maybe those who resist the obvious will start to understand.

Great win, no doubt about it. Great performance in every way. The players and Tubby deserve the credit, certainly.
Bottom line though, to continue to say that the money isn't there to remove Tubby is just not accurate and to insist that that is true is simply false. Does that happen now, right now? Highly unlikely. BUT, for whatever reason, if the big boys wanted to make that change, it would happen.
Regardless of the beaten down subject matter, fantastic win for all involved.

We will agree to disagree.

If the big boys were never giving the money to buy Tubby out, then the money isn't there. And they were never doing so in Year 2.

Yes, we will agree to disagree...04-cheers

Like it or not, I think he's back and I think this win did matter. It's something he can point to in his post-season review with the bosses.

He has a good chance now at slaying a couple of message board dragons. The end-of-season swoon, and the not-above-500-in-conference record. Longshot would be the postseason berth.

Next on the list: A top 100 recruit, a top local recruit, no more than one transfer (hasn't been seen since 2012), and an NCAA berth. Reasonable expectations.

Yep. And our we positive we don't want any transfers? Not all transfers are bad.

I don't think we have enough scholarships to meet all your requirements.

I don't mind transfers if they are they type that aren't contributors.

We have been losing starters or the first guys off the bench recently.

Lets say Nickelberry Transfers out and Leron Black Senior transfers in...I would be happy 03-wink

It's not just about who we want to stay, there is the APR to consider also.

The bad news about Martin’s injury gives Tubby a ready made excuse/reason for underachieving the rest of the year. It will help him keep his job.

Interesting take. But it won't help him keep his job, because he was never losing his job this year.

Tubby stays, book it. You can also pretty much take it to the bank that season tix sales will suffer another decline.

Just enough mediocrity to ensure apathy. Not sure how much more apathy and its crowd killing effects the program can take before we become Houston part II (or St. John's, or DePaul, or St. Louis, or Georgetown).

I’m not sure how people got the idea that Tubby was going to get fired. There is just no way it was going to happen. A $10 million dollar payoff for a 20 win coach? Just so we could hire a person with zero NCAA coaching experience?

I’m sure the administration isn’t thrilled with the results so far or the ticket sales. But, there was no way this was going to happen.

Looks like quite a few got suckered by the local media and bought the hype. All it did was help their paltry ratings. Catfished....

Agree he is going nowhere. The idea came from:
1. His recruiting (or lack thereof)
2. Declining basketball revenue due to donor loss and seasonal ticket sale purchases

Are either of these 2 going to improve dramatically over the next 13 months? Time will tell....

True. We can't have all those happen this year. I was combining this year with next - that he will most certainly get now. Get the local recruit and limit the transfers to 1 (contributor or freshman).
