Win Percentage trumps all, so 1-0 beats 1-1 and 1-1 beats 0-1

However if one team goes 2-0 and the other goes 1-0, then they are considered to have the same win percentage vs that opponent and the tiebreak moves on down the list.

For example, if Troy beats Georgia State Thursday they will have swept the Panthers over 2 games. ULM beat Georgia State once in their only meeting. If Troy and ULM finish tied in the standings, they will be considered to have the same record in the common opponents tiebreaker with Georgia State and it will move to the next team down, Georgia Southern.

That's why ULM owns tiebreaks with basically everyone. They faced the Georgia Schools once, and beat both of them. To my knowledge no one else in the league has managed to go undefeated against the Georgia's.

Not saying it will happen, because it won't, but so far USA is 2-0 against them. We play the return games this week.

Yeah, I should have remembered this. I went over it Yesterday trying to figure out if you guys had a chance to finish top 4 because 4 wins over the Georgia's would win you every common opponent tiebreak known to human kind. The problem is even if that happened, it would mean that 8 of your 9 league wins were against the Georgia's, App State, and the Arkansas schools. You went Ofer against ULM, UTA, and Troy...and you can do no better than a tie with UTA.

While its possible Troy and ULM can lose out of the tiebreak...the only way to do it involves Georgia Southern beating Troy, which would clinch a 3rd place spot For GS, and leave you tied for 4th with UTA, which you lose. There's another tiebreak scenario that puts Troy 3rd at 10-8 and ties you with GS and UTA at 9-9 But In that tiebreak, you and UTA would both have gone 2-1 in the triangle tie, taking it to a 2 way head to head tie which UTA wins.

Wild Tiebreaker #3 (Won't happen, but you know)

South Alabama sweeps the Georgia Schools
Troy sweeps the Georgia Schools
UTA loses to Texas State
Coastal beats App
ULM Sweeps the Arkansas Schools

Final Records:

Troy 10-8
ULM 10-8
GS 9-9
UTA 9-9
USA 9-9
Coastal 9-9

This is where league rules cause for everything to be a complete mess. League rules require that the Troy/ULM tiebreak be determined first. But that when considering the common opponents tiebreak, you find the record against the group of tied opponents, rather than whoever wins the tiebreak.

So: ULM/Troy split head to head
Common Opponents:

Vs ULL 0-2
Vs GSU 2-0, 1-0 (Same win percentage, move on)
vs Coastal/USA/GS/UTA Troy 5-2 ULM 4-1 ULM gets the 3 seed based on higher win percentage
Now, the CCU/USA/GS/UTA Monstrosity

Head to head

USA 3-2
UTA 3-2
GS 1-4
Coastal 2-3

USA/UTA go to head to head tiebreak which UTA wins. UTA 5 seed

USA gets the 6 seed based on a 3-1 record vs GS/Coastal. Coastal gets the 7 seed based on head to head with Southern. Southern gets the 8 seed.

Now where it gets interesting is what if you swapped out the winner of App/Coastal and had App win:

In that case, it would change the Troy/ULM tiebreaker to where Troy would get the 3 seed because Troy beat App and ULM didn't. USA would get the 5 seed over UTA Because they swept App and UTA didn't. Georgia Southern would get the 6 because they went 1-0 with App and UTA went 1-1, UTA gets the 7 and App gets the 8.

It will be a surprise to me if either of the Alabama schools can beat the Georgia schools. I suppose Troy over GaSo is a possibility.

For me, if ULM sweeps Arkansas at home this week, they'll get the final bye.

But I want Chaos...

I also want us to win our first round tournament game because I just know it will annoy the hell out of whoever we face.

How about a prediction?

1. Louisiana
2. Georgia State
3. Georgia Southern
4. ULM
5. UTA
6. Troy
7. App
8. CCU
9. USA
10. Texas State
11. A State
12. LR

Troy fans will love the fact I picked them sixth.
And, after gagging in the 5/12 game last year, the least A-State can do is win one this year.

I'd be fine knocking anyone out, but we have zero chance of beating UTA or USA because of matchup, so I'll root neither happens.

Crap, I forgot we're scheduled to lose to you guys Thursday, so you'll be making likely another grand appearance on radio here to talk about how very good you guys are.

Ha. Something tells me you'll be invited. It's not like there's a shortage of things to talk about out of the SBC these days.

Gotta be honest, I love being on with those guys. They always have good questions and we know each other well enough now to where we can have some fun.

And, I can talk about how much we are struggling in baseball, which, since we go to Jonesboro this year, will be good news for the audience.

I warn you. They are on a "Can we get the SBC Tournament out of New Orleans?" Kick right now. We'll all love your opinion on that. That and what a new baseball stadium would look like for us.

I have an opinion on everything, as you well know. LOL

I PRAY Kara asks me about the tournament site. On with her 11:20 tomorrow morning.

Well poo. I'll be at work. Will have to listen to it that night on archive.

Never fear, I'll tweet at her and insist she asks you about it.
