Thanks for the post. We could use some more big athletic linemen.

Sounds like a tackle eligible play may be in our future! I wonder if he bring the ball up the floor vs a press or perhaps clear out the low post to keep in shape over the winter, hmmm...

Tribe adds another grad transfer in WR Sean Daniel from Va Tech. Played with Shon Mitchell at Oscar Smith.

You can have your opinions on London, but that man brings in transfers. Can’t hate that.

I admire the way Coach London and his staff continue to add to the 2019 with some very good Power 5 transfers who can play immediately. These late roster additions appear to have strengthened the team.

On the one hand, strictly from the standpoint of the 2019 season, I agree.
On the other hand, on a long-term basis, I think bringing in transfers to play over recruited players presents a problem.
Regardless, the transfer rules are changing the landscape of college sports.

I agree with you on the long-term basis of not really wanting to rely on transfers. It does seem as thought the transfers we have brought in thus far are in positions of need. We lost Joe Suarez with a year of eligibility left for this year after having to play a true freshman in the mix at DT last year. So the DL transfer seems to make sense. We had to play two true freshmen at OL last year so the depth is certainly needed there. We lost 5 of 13 WRs on last year's roster and only brought in 2 (scholarship) WRs through an abbreviated recruiting period. The only one I question is the QB. We have 6 on the roster already. If the offense is as good as advertised, I would be disappointed to think we couldn't put a current QB in a position to run it well.

RE: 2019 Football
I think London is assessing what he has on the team and is upgrading as he can. That makes sense to me. If we want the program to improve we need better players. I don't know if our recent failures were more coaching, more players, or a combination, but we used to win a lot more than we have lately. I also don't know the defensive scheme that he's putting in, so I can't say whether the players we have are the right ones or not. I expect the mix to change over time in terms of player type on offense starting with this year's recruiting class. I want to see how we do this year and see if he's going to play some/any of the true freshmen or redshirt them.

We played a true freshman at DT because he jumped people on the depth chart and deserved to play. He was one of four who rotated regularly at DT and all four are back. Same was true for the two freshmen who played on the OL. Sorsdal won the starting job from jump street, and Crowell earned playing time when injuries were a problem, but retained his redshirt. Of the returning QBs, only Dean Rotger carries impressive statistics from his limited playing time, so an open QB competition with a transfer makes sense to me. We lost 3 WRs who were regular contributors and part of the rotation.
Of the four transfers coming in, only the QB has been a starter.

I agree with what you've said about the DT and OL freshmen from last year. But a solid, deep rotation at those positions wouldn't, preferably, include true freshmen. Hence the welcome nod to the transfers.

2019 Football
Incoming freshman Kane Everson is killing it at QB in the Big33 all star game. Likely MVP for the game. As I write he's got over 60 yards passing and 2 TDs to go with 40 yards with his feet.
