RE: Baseball
I don't know, but if Akron re-adds baseball next year then I assume the tourney goes back to an 8 team tourney and follows more traditional seeding and double-elimination rules.

This year was an aberration.

This article suggests what is wrong with college baseball:

http://www.espn.com/college-sports/story...tournament

SEC has 10 teams in the tourney. Ten is an awful lot to come from one conference...

Not much worse than NCAA MBB where the ACC got 9.
NCAA D1 is a racket.

I should have posted this, instead. Approximately 20 of the top 25 teams are from south of the Mason-Dixon line.

But I guess we can talk about NCAA hockey as the antidote.

RE: Baseball
The last team from a snowplow state to win the college world series was Ohio State in 1966. The preponderance of southern teams in the tournament is no conspiracy. If you are going to end the season before June and rightfully expect athletes to attend classes in spring rather than train in better weather, this is bound to happen. Unless of course some northern University was silly enough to build a domed stadium for a non-revenue sport like baseball.

It truly only shows how remarkable Oak's 1976 team accomplishments were.

Thanks02-13-banana
Jon Roof coming on board I believe this is a huge positive
The Roof/Acter/Roof staff are all MSU pedigree and have a history of success in college and professional baseball
Great hire Eric

I was thinking the same. I assume professional baseball is a great training ground for college coaches.

Dear Friends,
This hiring of Jon may work out, but I'm not in favor of hiring family. I know it has been done at other schools with different teams, but like I said, not in favor.

Hi Ken-
Its good to be skeptical of nepotism. But it can work. Look at Sue Parks.

Dear masttg,
Yes, that's a good example of it working well. I just hope it does this time.

Sue Parks was a MAC champion head coach at Ball State before she came to EMU.

Let's be clear. The guys resume alone would stack up against any other candidate. Regardless. Let's be happy this family wants to work for EMU.
