Jones flashes the D by turning a nice double play to end the top of the 4th.

Then, in the bottom of the 4th, he gets an infield single on a routine grounder to short (while batting from the right side) and steals 2nd.

Kid is a star.

Lefty Justin Walke enters for Royalty in the 6th, and is showing off a very effective breaking pitch.

Walke has now K’d 4 in a row!

Perhaps. Lots of new faces. Gotta give a little credit to EKU’s pitching though. They didn’t look like a last place OVC team.

It has but it's been a rewarding hoops season too. This staff can flat out coach so they've proven that after seeing the vast improvement over the back half. The record means absolutely nothing to me because I knew that this would be hard at first. I'm excited about UNCW hoops going forwards because we are definitely going forward. They can beat anybody at this point with the way they are playing.

Back to baseball, yes, Jones looked good today and I like the overall speed of the lineup. It's good to get back to some small ball and just getting it in play with speed. There's enough pop to get HR's but still speed. The pitching should be really good and we've just seen a SMALL example of that. There's a TON of arm talent from what I've gathered. The mid relief and back end should be strong. It was great to see our closer get it done tonight. He didn't pound but still competed and got the K's. That curve ball was the difference and being able to locate it. It made him virtually unhittable with his 95 MPH FB. Onto tomorrow, hope we get a quality start and can get ahead early.

Butler will be a tough opponent today. They saved their top pitcher, Garrett Christman, for us, too.

Butler up 2-0 in the 4th. Both teams have hit the ball hard, but BU has a HR and a couple doubles off the wall, while we’ve been held hitless thus far.
