The way the entire team is awarded is stupid. Because we go by position, and limit it to one team, it makes it impossible for worthy players to make the list.

The Sun Belt has a ton of great starting pitchers the last few years, but they never got a chance to be on the team because the Sun Belt also had Kevin Hill and Gunner Leger. Think you've got a lock down closer? Sorry. The Cajuns have Dylan Moore. No admittance for you.

There are probably more than 3 all conference worthy outfielders, but we're only allowed to pick 3 and there's a guy in the league named Swaggerty whose a potential 1st round pick, so really there's only 2 spots.

If we're going to be so limiting to position, than there needs to be a 2nd team. Otherwise, we're going to continue to have situations where half the league doesn't need to bother issuing a press release for the All conference team because there's no chance any of their players make it.

It's a preseason team. No big deal.

They do a first and second team for post season accolades. They probably need to do three teams, honestly.

Kind of surprising the Cajuns have one player and Coastal none.
The lineup looks like it's all guys from the Texas and Alabama teams.

Trae Patterson (UTA, Senior, Starting Pitcher)
Seth Shuman (Georgia Southern, Sophomore, Starting Pitcher)

Will Olson (UTA, Junior, Catcher)

Rather making a general statement about your unhappiness with this team, put your guys stats up against these guys stats and make your case. You might be right.

It's called sarcasm. We still have a good chunk of kids who won a CWS. We will be fine. It is a crime that Woody Woodhall Jr was not listed as a preseason first teamer. The kid is a beast!!!

Then don't do one at all if its unimportant. I just really get tired of the fact that the same exact players get honored every preseason.

Just going off of last year’s numbers, I would take Woody. Kid comes through with RISP. He is responsible for 1 1/2 Wells. Kid is also a better power hitter. Rest of the stats are pretty similar, Woody had a great year last year. Thought he would get some more love.

RE: Jags, Cajuns Picked to Win Respective Divisions For Baseball
They chose Wells Davis over Woody? That's ludicrous.

It isn't like Wells outhit Woody.
(Except he did outhit him. Wells had 58 hits in 200 at bats compared to Woody's 58 hits in 221 at bats)

It isn't like Wells had a better batting average than Woody.
(Except he did have a better batting average, .290 compared to .262)

It isn't like Wells scored more runs than Woody.
(Except he did score more runs. Wells scored 50 runs in 200 at bats compared to Woody's 41 runs in 221 at bats)

Woody had a total of 3 more RBI than Wells, but he also had 21 more at bats. I would hope he would be able to take him in this category.

Picking Wells Davis over Kevin Woodall wasn't the big slap in the face you'd make it out to be. It's a preseason poll and they picked the guy who had the better 2017 campaign. So what?

Hey it’s okay, we play in Conway this year. Maybe we will actually finish the sweep this year. 04-cheers

At least y'all know the players that will likely play baseball for your school this season.

I'll need a roster handy until April.

I think it’s great that in the first 3 game series between CCU and Louisiana in what I do feel will quickly become a great rivalry

We tied

Hope some of your folks will be coming to Lafayette for that series this year. We had a pretty good turnout of Cajun fans (me among them) in Conway last year.

Drew Labounty was hit in the eye by his own foul tip at practice and was hospitalized. He was a 2-time All SBC SS and was a preseason all conference pick this year as well. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
