For those of you who have been following the story: Navy Football OC Ivin Jasper's son has been awaiting a heart transplant.

He went into surgery in the wee hours of this morning.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/spor...b9cd6648f6

SID Tweets this morning have said the heart is in and beating on its own.

Let us not forget that there is another family somewhere grieving right now, but their loss has enabled this development for the Jaspers.

This is great news for the young man. Prays for the family of the heart donor. This has to be one of the most bittersweet moments there could be in life.

Good deal. It amazes me how they can transplant organs, let alone a heart.

No family should go through this. Not out of the woods yet though, transplants are complicated, acute rejections can occur uptil 4 weeks and chronic rejections can occur upto years after the transplant.

I should have used my words to be more clear.

Posted the piece by Jaylen because I thought it was pretty powerful. Good job on him to be that honest and on the writer who captured it. (And, yes, the few lines on Ivin's motivation and expectations/methodology was part of my liking it.)

Within the last week, word was put out of good results from second biopsy - after the 30 Jan surgery, no signs of rejection and all the levels the docs are measuring are good!

Acknowledging the possibility of chronic rejection, please keep the Jaspers in your prayers (as well as not forgetting the grieving family of the donor).
