RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
Looks like Shaver agreed with me that if Milon isn't hitting his shots, he is a liability on the court. Tot & Loewe did well defensively in the 2nd half and Rowley was huge off the bench.

Pierce is a double double machine!
30 pts, 12 boards and 4 assists - nicely done!
Team win as always! Everyone had a big part
Let’s keep it going on Saturday!

Yeah, another 2 for 9 effort for Matt. Hope he gets it figured out.

Worst part is that most of his shots were open, good looks. Guessing it is a confidence issue and hope he gets it straightened out ASAP

Yeah, it looks like he may be thinking about it, instead of just letting it fly. Hope he gets it back soon.

If it is going to take at least 13 wins for the regular season title, all the home games are a must. Great offensive effort tonight. Drexel is playing well and Isabell is lighting it up. No easy games this year since we played them.

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
Great win -- but way more suspenseful than it needed to be. I agree that Milon's cold spell is making a difference -- because he doesn't make up for it in other areas like rebounding.
Good to see Knight looking more normal again. Great effort and clutch shots from Rowley. Pierce is really coming into his own! Burchfield did his usual yeoman's job and Cohn really hustled out there.
You knew I couldn't close without talking about the free throw shooting, though. Missed 5 out of the last 8 in crunch time, and since 2 of the misses were front ends of one-and-ones, that really should count as two more misses. Cohn and Pierce both looked like they were aiming it on their misses although at least Cohn made his last two after missing the front end of a one-and-one. Today's misses killed our FT % and likely knocked us out of the national top echelon.
I'll admit I was really irritated when Pierce missed both of the last free throws. If he had made just one, the Tribe would have scored 100 and it would have been the fifth time this year, which would have set a W&M record. That's okay, though, we have more chances to set that record.

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
Would have been nice i guess, but the win is all that matters. I think Matt will get it figured out. He is a great shooter. Contributions from the bench are big. Just loving this run.....
But so many teams are good in the league this year. Definitely not the year to finish 4th. Right now, I think it would be Northeastern/Towson in the 1st roind.

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
I was starting to have Delaware CAA tourney flashbacks with all of the one & one misses in the last minute. Can’t do that in Charleston or we could be one and done. Great bench play tonight from Harrison/Rowley/Tot/Loewe! Milon is too good of a shooter to stay cold for long...could easily go for 20 on Saturday. Beat Drexel and next Thursday could be a battle for sole possession of first place (unless they lose to Hofstra).

Milon better get it figured out in a hurry, because Rowley is playing like he deserves to start

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
There was a stretch in the game when visions of two more years of Pierce and Knight were definitely dancing in my head. Outstanding sophomores already, should they progress as we hope, their play as seniors could be something to behold.
Sometimes you miss FTs and sometimes great shooters go cold ...
I don't think a cold-shooting Milon is a liability on defense or rebounding; however, when you can plug in a hot-shooting Rowley, why not? (That's depth!)
My biggest concern tonight was the under-utilization of Knight. Elon simply cannot handle him underneath. He spent way to much time outside distributing the ball. He can go all "Towson" on them, put up the shot and get the rebound if he misses.

Yes, I totally agree. And don't forget, Rowley started the first four games of the year and Burchfield was first off the bench -- but Rowley got a minor injury and Burchfield got super hot and so Rowley has been on the bench since then.
I have nothing against Milon but he needs to score points to stay in the starting lineup. Rowley is playing very well lately.

He isn't a liability on defense because he is cold, he is a liability because he is far and away the worst defender among our starting 5. If he isn't shooting well, which he hasn't the past 4 or 5 games, then I would rather have a better defender on the court.

In all fairness, Knight got a good amount of touches. He seemed like he was looking to set his teammates up more tonight than go 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 (led our team in assists tonight). Plus, Pierce, Burch, & Rowley also shot very well from the field tonight and even Milon's shots were good looks that we would love for him to take up until the past 2 weeks. The only bad shots we really had are the one's we tried to hurry in transition. When we ran our set offense, we probably shot close to 70% from the field.

They scored 99 points, shot nearly 60%, and had 25 assists to 8 TOs, so had to be doing something right!

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
I do not consider Milton the worst defender. Of course I could be wrong (in fact I often am) but swapping out Rowley for Milton does not improve us defensively. It certainly increases FT opportunities for the other team. Rowley is second on the team in fouls and had 4 tonight. He also is more turnover prone.
Look, I think we both agree the hot hand plays and Rowley probably beat UNC-W for us. And his offensive production was critical tonight. And he is a great story.
I just don’t feel Milton is the liability you are suggesting.

Our bench outscored their bench, how many times has that happened this season?
Granted it was 16 from Rowley, and 2 from Tot, and that's it, but still. Harrison did grab a few boards

RE: Elon Rematch and this week's Disa & Data
Tonight's win guarantees a .500 record at the absolute minimum. That's five straight .500 or better seasons. It appears that this matches the program's previous record from the early 80s.
I recognize that we've got a lot more to accomplish this season, but just wanted to take a step back to applaud and enjoy the run we're currently on.
Keep it up, Tribe.

Rowley fouls because he is at least in front of his guy. Milon is usually nowhere near his guy and the most likely culprit for blown assignments on the defensive end.
Also didn't suggest switching Rowley for Milon, as Rowley is often needed to give Knight a break when Harrison is ineffective, which had pretty much been every game until the UNCW game. Hopefully Harrison can continue to give quality minutes to where we can play Knight and Rowley on the floor together more, which is when our offense is at it's best IMO. Tot's & Loewe's defense tonight was good and rightfully deserved (glad Shaver agreed) some of Milon's minutes. Milon is like the Burchfield of the last 3 years on defense to me. He is still young and new to our defense (which Shaver constantly switches in games), so hopefully he can improve the next 2 seasons on that end.

Another good Win! The coaching staff has grown with the players and this TEAM is playing good BB. Like the timing of the TO tonight and how the TEAM responded. We continue our streak of winning all games this season when the margin of victory is under 10....
