To win by 12. UAB went 5 for 20, but 3 of the bombs came very late in the game.

You don’t win many games giving up 15 three pointers.

RE: UTSA makes 15-28 three pointers
This was at least the fourth time this season UTSA hit 15 three pointers in a game, but never on as few as 28 shots.

UAB continued to struggle from the charity line: 11-16.

This was UTSA’s biggest win of the season to date.

You are so kind in your assessment. I thought everything was bad, from rebounding, shooting, effort, assist, yada yada yada. Just went through the motion

To steal a phrase from Jim Ross, that game was bowling shoe ugly.

RE: UTSA makes 15-28 three pointers
Defense is the name of the game. Watching the game, tonight, UTSA got open from three....28 times tonight and let them fly. It's no wonder that half of them went in. We are allowing opposing teams to get open from long range way too much. UTSA had 24 assists. Keaton Wallace had 11 assists. Giovanni De Nicolao had 5 assists. A lot of those made three's by UTSA were a result of 24 assists. Catch and shoot! They were already squared up to shoot and wide open when they caught the passes. We gotta work on preventing that. Probably our best defensive line up for guarding against the three would be Bryant, Perry, Lavender, Lee, and Cokley. I'd like to see how well they could play together for an eight minute stretch. Of course that means Norton and Darling are hugging the bench for eight minutes too but then again it's just a scrimmage before the Conference Tournament.

I was frustrated at how much we used the 1-3-1 zone, especially in the first half.

Nothing defensively seemed to work, we had no answers for anything they did. We matched their 3's w/ 2's, more of our players had off nights etc etc...

Well our crimmage play is setting us up for an extra CUSA tournament game.

Very frustrating game to watch. When we started to rally they would hit a 3 to extend the lead again.

Some of those threes they made we had a hand in their face. They shot as well as anyone did since UTEP and Houston in the MA era. On offense we missed easy shots. Many wide open and had some silly turnovers. Frustrating but still not as bad as watching Monmouth punk us at home. Don’t know it I’ll ever get rid of the Hawks nightmare.

Inability to guard the 3pt shot...residue of the Hasse era.

Yep. Haase was too interested in being Mr. Offense to showcase for UNC.

As as result he laid the foundation of sand that offense matters way much more than defense.

So much season left for the Blazer's caught a team on a hot night it happens from time to time congratulations to UTSA no reason to bow down just yet. Too much game to go get dressed for the next game you won't see that performance anytime soon.

RE: UTSA makes 15-28 three pointers
Hopefully, this was our conference WTF loss. We seem to play to the level of the competiton. We had every chance to win games against Buffalo(1st place in MAC), Auburn, Middle, WKU, and Marshall. Perhaps this bodes well for our upcoming games. Charlotte, who will have had a week to prepare for UAB, will be playing a pissed-off UAB team and ODU is a top team.

RE: UTSA makes 15-28 three pointers
UTSA has done this before, but they have also shot poorly from behind the arc many times.

It’s been a long time since UAB was a good three point shooting team, at least in my opinion. If you can’t defend the three and you can’t keep pace shooting the three, well it’s usually a long night.

I just don't think we are very good at denying the pass...on the perimeter, and opposing teams are getting way too many wide open looks and open shots from outside. It's as simple as that.

I agree. We had good defense on a good number of their made 3's but they still made the shot. My 14 year old son was frustrated as anyone. I had to explain to him that when a team shoots like UTSA did for the entire game, they're tough to beat, especially when you're having an off night too.
