RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU loses a tough 73-69 game in OT in the CAA Tourney semis.
NU was led by Ayanna Dublin's 16 points. Gabby Giacone had 14, while Jess Genco added 13 and Alexis Hill 12.
They had a great look to win the game in regulation with the game tied at 54. Their were 8 lead changes and the game was tied 11 times.
Would’ve been awesome to see the women play in the finals like the men.
NU must wait and see if they get in the WNIT. They have the resume but I think finishing in 6th place in the 10th ranked conference may hurt them.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU’s season came to an end after losing at Butler 89-72 in the WNIT 1st round.
Jess Genco ended her college career scoring 21 points with 8 assists.
NU ends the season with a 20-12 record.
They’ll have everyone back except Genco and Gabby Giacone next season.

So now we're down to only one NCAA post season tourney team?

About a month to go until the season opener and still no bios for the incoming freshmen? Isn't that part of marketing. Bios for the men's team have been out forever.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
At least after the previous recruiting class was was completed they put out a news piece. I remember reading about Kendall and Alexis and being anxious to see them and we even discussed them on this board. For this class they didn't even do that.

And considering how good of a season they had last year, you’d think there would be some excitement in announcing the recruiting class.
From what I read yesterday, they have some good freshman guards. One from Maryland, one from Canada and another from Austria.
They also have a big (6-2 is big for women’s hoops) from Canada.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU squandered a chance for a nice opening day win, losing 80-76 to South Dakota at Cabot.
NU took a 10 point (72-62) lead on Kendall Currence's 3-pointer with 3 minutes left but then got outscored 18-4 to end the game.
Currence had 19 pts and Alexis Hill had 15 pts. SD had trouble with Hill all game (4 boards, 3 blocks, 4 steals).
Despite blowing the game, I really loved the freshman and once they get settled NU is going to win some games.
Freshman Mide Oriyomi had 10 pts, Century McCartney (4 pts), Mosi Staples (2 pts) all looked great.
Those 3 along with Samantha Michel and Anna Boruta make a solid class.
They go on the road where they will get blasted at #1 ranked Oregon.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
We missed Jess in those final three minutes. Oh well. Live and learn. Next time they will call time out or have a better plan for getting the ball over the mid court line.
The freshmen are going to be fun to watch! Oriyomi is going to be taking a lot of somebody's minutes. This doesn't look like a sixth place team to me

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU has a crazy tough game Monday at #1 Oregon, an Oregon team that just beat the US Women's National Team.
At the very least, the beatdown will allow the freshman to get some minutes against a powerhouse.
The last #1 ranked team NU played was 10 years ago against UConn.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU got a BIG win at JMU 77-69 for their first-ever road win in Harrisonburg.
Stella Clark had 28 points and Kendall Currence had 18 in the win over the 12th ranked Dukes (Women's mid-major poll).
NU has been playing without junior starters Alexis Hill and Katie May.
They had a shot to beat them on Monday too, but they couldn't hit any 3's while JMU did.
