This strikes me as how far the nation's university system is out of touch with the real world.

First of all let's blame Trump (I am not a Trump fan) for his immigration policies causing enrollment declines although we have a record incoming class.

Also let's demand that we not expect any sacrifice from faculty and expect the State Of Michigan to subsidize the misbehavior of Larry Nasser, a MSU faculty member.

At EMU we must reduce the head Football coach's salary and diminish the program instead of right sizing faculty positions to match a declining student population.

In the private sector slumping sales result in sacrifice from the entire organization and while gut-wrenching, are regarded as "it is what is" kind of situation. Universities, however, seem to be institutions that were created primarily to serve those who work there and any disruption to their current existence simply cannot be tolerated. I also never hear any potential solutions from these people but with only 10 fingers on each person's hand, they usually run out of digits pointing at others when assessing blame for any organizational dysfunction. Cut Creighton's salary, don't privatize any University operation and demand that all Michigan taxpayers subsidize any mistakes "our" college might make. It's all good.
