Fox is the only network to bid up on the NFL's Thursday night package
All the other networks bid less than what the package was getting in previous years.
From Awful Announcing:
CBS and NBC bid less. ESPN and Turner did not even bid.

ESPN already paying for MNF and they are getting crappy games. Thursday Night games haven't been great either for the most part. People are wising up.

Yeah, ESPN is getting flat-out robbed by the NFL. Almost every Monday they get one of the three worst games of the week, and their one playoff game is the worst of the four on the first playoff weekend.
Someone reported recently that, as ESPN has been renewing contracts with cable/satellite companies, they are making some concessions on money in exchange for removing the requirement that ESPN carry NFL games. That sounds like a pretty good indicator of whether or not ESPN will keep MNF when the current contract runs out.

I don't think they'll renew. ESPN seems to be going all in on CFB. They probably just bid on highlight rights from the NFL.
