NCAA Transfer Rules
I came across this tweet from an ESPN personality:

"I spoke w/ an NCAA official this week who was “95% certain” transfers will soon be allowed to play immediately in basketball & football. Could be a one-time freebie, plus grad transfer option. So in theory, a student-athlete could play for three different schools w/o sitting out."

I also saw some Twitter accounts saying nothing is imminent.

If this is true, you can see what the stance of the NCAA is regarding the power conferences. An unnecessary rule that would allow the rich to get richer. What pressure is there for a P5 school to recruit high school kids when they can just reload every summer? There would be no penalty for a P5 missing out on recruits. Any holes on the roster? Just snatch up the CAA player of the year. The days of a midmajor or small school "stealing a recruit" would be gone and these schools would be turned into, for all intents, a farm system for the high majors. They will sell it as being for the players, but it will destroy the structure of college football and especially basketball as we know it. The system is already rigged against the mid major. It shouldn't surprise me that little thought is being payed to implications beyond the high major schools.

At its core, this is a student-athlete friendly rule that will end up hurting as many student athletes as it helps. Like it or not, and coaches say they don't, kids make decisions based on expected playing time and depth charts sometimes. This doesn't mean the kids are afraid of competition, just smart. With a free flow of talent this decision making process is useless.

FCS and G5 schools will be hit the hardest but FBS schools will be hit as well. Alabama will never have the same depth again. A third string LB waiting for his shot because he doesn't want to sit out a year under the current rules will be starting at Arkansas.

But, as I said, the players should be able to move without sitting if coaches can. I would tie a GPA component to it.
