John Tyler's Living Grandsons
Many of you may be much more knowledgeable about one of our famous alumni, but I found it fascinating to learn that our 10th US president has 2 living grandchildren. Also interesting is how deep their W&M legacy is. John Tyler Sr., the president's father, was a graduate and rumored to be Thomas Jefferson's roommate. President John Tyler attended W&M before his long public service career. His son, Lyon Gardiner Tyler went to W&M and later served as the college's 17th president. His living children, Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr. and Harrison Ruffin Tyler, both attended W&M and have been very generous in giving back. Interesting stuff.
