First one occurs at 53 seconds, called on Paul Rowley. He does not walk, and the call is made by the trailing official. I have no idea what the hell he was looking at.
Second one occurs at 23 seconds, where JMU's Jones takes a hop-step and then two steps after receiving a pass, before he is fouled. He ended up missing both free throws, so I suppose the missed call was rendered moot.
Yeah, the refs had an off night. Early on, they wouldn't call anything, and as the game wore on, they began to imagine calls. The one who looked like "Roger" from "Doug" was a conscientious objector to making a traveling call, consistently dismissing Mrs. Ribe's helpful suggestions. The older one agreed with my argument that JMU's huddle violated Rule 4, Section 3, Article 2, but couldn't be bothered to "T" them up.
On the other hand, all three of them did put up with quite a bit from Tony.

Tribester.
Thank you so much. I am going to make that part of my weekend viewing. Maybe I can slow the last minute down and thoroughly relive the events.

W&M 75, if you just want to see the end of last night's game, just use the link that Mrs GR listed earlier. You can move the picture along to the final 2:30 by dragging the yellow dot at the bottom.

Agreed. The on demand replay is one of the few advantages of the lack of a TV package. Of course, any home game has had that ability for years now. The road ones you can see after a short period through roku or caa.tv again on demand.

Funny post from the JMU board:
When ESPN said we had a 99.3% chance of winning, every JMU fan knew it was more like 50/50 at best

JMU Round 2
Watched the entire game again. I still yelled at my cpu the whole first half.
Shaver's timeout after Jones missed his first free throw was huge. Jones was visibly frustrated by the time out.
I think the 5th PF on Knight and Phillips were soft calls.
If we shot 90% from the charity stripe, JMU wins in regulation.

The refs were a disgrace, both ways. I maintain our shooting percentages and missed layups were mostly due to "aggressive" defense. That Knight kept calling for the ball and going at them until he got the calls is a testament to his ability and nature. When we had an early second half advantage in fouls called, I was texting to people to watch out for some cheap "evening out" calls, and unfortunately they all went to Knight. After Knight fouled out on an iffy call, they called a quick cheap one on JMU's center to make sure he fouled out too. Refs should be less concerned with balancing fouls and more concerned with calling what's in front of them. We would do well to make sure that if we draw 3-4 foul calls in a couple of minutes that we sub in some players to absorb the return calls that too often come from CAA refs.

The CAA is in the two-conference pool with the ACC for game refs. We always use refs who also officiate ACC games.

Yep, BT3 is correct, we just tend to get the lower tier (less experienced) refs on weekends.

SoCon has the same deal on refs, so we used to just refer to the crappy refs as "SoCon Saturday refs."
