RE: Footballscoop.com says...
I really think depth worries plagued our offense as well as vanilla playcalling.
But not lack of depth... worry of lack of depth. You'd constantly see AJ frustrated at the sideline as he tried to push the tempo, only to be slowed down by playcalling on the sideline. We had a stout D, so the only reason you run the clock is to decrease the amount of plays you run and to give your team a breather.

Truth! CBC is always talking about being a true tempo/spread team, but really, FAU and MTSU looked a lot more like that kind of team than UAB. MTSU had scatbacks running open all over the place when we played them, but the backup QB couldn't see them or get them the ball.

"Plays well with others" is just as important for an assistant coach as for a player.

By that reasoning, there are two "A holes" in our "COACH STAFF" as well.

Any new information? New names?
When do you think we will hear something? I would imagine they would need to be recruiting pretty soon.

The dead period ends the 1tth. I would suspect it'll either be this week or first of next week. It's going to be a sprint to signing day and they'll need as many people as possible

Tomorrow, the 9th, is when teams are allowed to add the 10th coach. Of course, we will have more openings that that.

Daily Dragon reported earlier that Bryant Vincent was the clubhouse leader for the OC position.

South Alabama was 1 of the teams that actually finished worse than UAB in total offense. and has stunk it up all 3 years under Vincent as OC, finishing 101(2015), 82 (2016), and 111 (2017) in total offense. I guess we can always blame Joey Jones! Mark Freeman would be a much stronger hire, and would recruit circles around Vincent.

He probably would not want to leave Tua's younger brother.

Perhaps trying to ride him to an assistant spot at Bama as a package deal.

The package has already been dealt.
They have a new ~ $70 new school, football field, etc. at Thompson so it would be a surprise move at the time regardless of where he could go.

What are some other names being tossed around? I am pretty sure Mark Freeman is staying at Thompson.

The South Alabama numbers have been terrible the 3 years he has been the OC there. If he is the man, hopefully, that was more on Jones than Vincent!

I really hope we can go with someone thats a young, hungry innovator looking to make a name for himself.
That is my concern with Vincent as well. An all-pro at RB and one of the fastest WR in the NFL could make a lot of plays work. Also we were pretty good on the offensive line.

And a pro TE in Gerald Everett, LA Rams, who he also had at USA...
