I 'm not naive enough to think anything that gets said on here will have any impact on what the coach will do. It's clear he will do what he wants no matter if it works or not.

I don’t think things said here will have an impact on coaching decisions, I’m not that pompous and neither should any of you be. However, I do believe it could have a very serious impact on the decisions of recruits.

I certainly hope not. What do have on here? A bunch of middle-aged men talking about a game and analyzing decisions based off of our careers of playing high school ball and volunteer coaching!

I can tell prospects all they want to know about the university, the city of Wilmington, and summers at WB. Judge the atmosphere at Trask on your own, and get basketball information from the experts. Listen to the coaches when it comes to basketball and ignore the hell out of anonymous message board coaches...all of them (us).

If i listened to bad reviews i'd never leave the house, or eat anywhere. Some of the nicest resorts i've ever been too had some crazy reviews that COULD have kept me away. I'm not really sure a half dozen people unhappy with losing can affect a recruit. If it does, they probably don't have thick enough skin to play D1 ball at a high level anyways!

RE: Towson
UNCW does not have the depth in my mind to compete every game and will have some games where it simply is not gonna work for them. The top 4 are good and Cacok is great but a 100% marked man at this point. I like the 2 freshmen guards off the bench but if you have to start guys like that it is really tough to think they can defend at the D1 level. Couple that with the fact that the entire team other than Cacok and Talley really can't guard anybody at all-makes for a long 40 minutes. The games I have been to so far have been for the most part what I expected. Players are going hard but just not quite where they need to be to win games in the CAA. I like the attitude of the team and the staff seems to be working hard with them.

The same people who think we need to shorten the bench and play guys like Cacok, Talley and Taylor 30+ minutes would be complaining about Estime, Gary and Kaline not progressing if we actually did that. We can't have it both ways. Now, I'm cool with taking minutes away from, say, Powell, but those 3 in particular need to play. I'm cool with Brown being out there as the # 3 PG also.

Not to mention when you're a team that plays fast, wear and tear is something we need to keep in mind over the marathon season.

Play everyone at this point. We are not, and won't win jack. Mid as well see what we have.

Agreed. We need to see what we have (and don't have) from a talent perspective. And I'm not sure if McGrath is as cutthroat as Keatts was, but if he sees scholarships as truly a year-to-year thing, there might be some we need to "take back", where necessary.

Never like seeing that happen, but it sure as hell helped Keatts build a dynamite roster here in his tenure, and no one here was complaining about it in hindsight.

I hear ya. I mean it is what it is, IMO a Scolly is like a job, you perform or you can lose it. But it will be interesting to see how it all plays out

Who said it would have an impact on any decisions?

I'm one of "those people" and I wouldn't say a word. Never have before. If the Freshman were playing 4-5 minutes less per game, so Talley, Fornes and Taylor could stay on the floor for another 4-5 minutes and develop their games(don't forget, they sat a lot last year) i'd be all for it. What are we saving them for? I had no idea the minutes our guys played last year so I looked it up. I was actually surprised, because it always "felt" like we had a deep bench and played it. But, we didn't. Plus, I keep hearing how we have to keep our guys "fresh". Somehow our guys played a lot more last year, pressed, scored more and managed to run the table on back to back days to win the CAA tournament. I also prefer to play for "this year" and not some unpredictable future. Too much can go wrong expecting next year to be the year, especially when your players are mentally drained from losing and losing big.
