NCAAbbs was founded on many principles, one of which was the freedom of the internet. Unfortunately, there are three major things that threaten this freedom right now. I for one would appreciate it if everybody took a few minutes of their day to seriously view the bottom three websites on the link below.

<a href='http://www.ncaabbs.com/misc.html' target='_blank'>http://www.ncaabbs.com/misc.html</a>

TCPA/Policeware -- A new standard that may be forced on computers through Congress that would create a monopoly of a few hundred corporations on all that is digital. Open source and free software, such as the Invision software we use on this very board, would be killed off. Also, if you are one millions of users who burns music CDs, listens to mp3s, or shares video, you could face 5 years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine under this act. It would allow the federal government to be a 1984 Big Brother and mandate the equivalent of "policeware" in computers.

RIAA -- The RIAA thinks it can snoop around in your computer to find illegal file sharers. "If you're not doing it, you have nothing to worry about." That's from the RIAA head lawyer. In an ironic twist, that's what the Nazis said.

Thank you for your time, and hopefully through your help and the help of organiztions like these and the Electronic Fronteir Foundation, internet freedom can be preserved.
